Stand On It (Bruce Springsteen Song)
"Stand on It" is a song written and originally recorded by Bruce Springsteen. Springsteen initially released it as the non-LP B-side of the " Glory Days" single in May 1985; the track was also featured in the film ''Ruthless People'' and its accompanying soundtrack album. "Stand On It" later appeared in a slightly longer version with an extra verse on Springsteen's outtakes and B-sides compilation '' Tracks''. A little over a year after Springsteen's release, the song was recorded by American country music artist Mel McDaniel. It was released in September 1986 as the lead single from McDaniel's album, ''Just Can't Sit Down Music''. It peaked at number 12 on the U.S. ''Billboard'' Hot Country Singles & Tracks chart and number 5 on the Canadian ''RPM'' Country Tracks chart. Mel McDaniel
Melvin Huston McDaniel (September 6, 1942 – March 31, 2011) was an American country music artist. Many of his top hits were released in the 1980s, including " Louisiana Saturday Night", " Big Ole Brew", " Stand Up", " Baby's Got Her Blue Jeans On" (which reached number one on the country chart), " I Call It Love", " Stand on It", and a remake of Chuck Berry's " Let It Roll (Let It Rock)". Roy Bittan
Roy J. Bittan (born July 2, 1949) is an American musician best known as a long-time member of Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band. Nicknamed "The Professor", Bittan joined the E Street Band in 1974. He plays the piano, organ, accordion and synthesizers. Bittan was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014 as a member of the E Street Band. Aside from his membership in the E Street Band, Bittan has worked as a session musician for singer-songwriters and rock and pop artists. Max Weinberg
Max Weinberg (born April 13, 1951) is an American drummer and television personality, most widely known as the longtime drummer for Bruce Springsteen's E Street Band and as the bandleader for Conan O'Brien on ''Late Night with Conan O'Brien'' and ''The Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien''. He is the father of former Slipknot (band), Slipknot drummer Jay Weinberg. Weinberg grew up in suburban New Jersey and began drumming at an early age. He attended college planning to be a lawyer but got his big break in music in 1974 when he won an audition to become the drummer for Springsteen. Weinberg became a mainstay of Springsteen's long concert performances. Garry Wayne Tallent (born October 27, 1949), sometimes billed as Garry W. Tallent, is an American musician and record producer, best known for being the bass player and a founding member of the E Street Band, Bruce Springsteen's primary backing band since 1972. As of 2025, Tallent is the only remaining original member of the E Street Band besides Springsteen. He was inducted in 2014 as a member of the E Street Band into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. ''Ruthless People'' is a 1986 American black comedy film directed by David Zucker, Jim Abrahams, and Jerry Zucker and written by Dale Launer.
