Stan Whitmire
Stan Whitmire is a Christian pianist from Atlanta, Georgia, United States. Life and work Whitmire was born May 4, 1963, in Atlanta, Georgia and studied to learn to play the piano from the age of four. He graduated from The Westminster Schools and Georgia State University in Atlanta. He has been part of the music ministry, playing piano for worship services at Mount Paran Church of God in Atlanta since December 1978. His first professional music gig was with the Southern gospel family group The Nelons ( Rex Nelon) in the mid-1980s and early 1990s. He often accompanies Greater Vision on special occasions. He has ministered frequently with the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association since 1997 as an accompanist and vocalist at Graham's & associate evangelists' crusades and conferences. He also appears frequently as part of Bill and Gloria Gaither Homecoming videotapings & concerts and In Touch Ministries (Dr. Charles Stanley) cruises & other events across the country. 41st GMA Dove Awards
The 41st Annual GMA Dove Awards presentation was held on April 21, 2010 recognizing accomplishments of musicians for the year 2009. The show was held at The Opry Entertainment Complex in Nashville, Tennessee, and was hosted by Bart Millard. Nominations were announced on February 18, 2010 during a press conference at Belmont University's Curb Café in Nashville, Tennessee. The announcement was hosted by a group of artists which included Francesca Battistelli, Jeremy Camp, Jason Crabb, Brandon Heath, Kari Jobe, Michael W. Smith, Ben Tankard and Lisa Kimmey. The Carpenters
The Carpenters were an American vocal and instrumental duo consisting of siblings Karen Carpenter, Karen (1950–1983) and Richard Carpenter (musician), Richard Carpenter (born 1946). They produced a distinctive soft musical style, combining Karen's contralto vocals with Richard's harmonizing, arranging, and composition. During their 14-year career, the Carpenters recorded 10 albums along with many singles and several television specials. The siblings were born in New Haven, Connecticut, but moved to Downey, California, in 1963. Richard took piano lessons as a child, progressing to California State University, Long Beach, while Karen learned the drums. The best-known version is that recorded by American duo the Carpenters for their second studio album '' Close to You'' (1970) and produced by Jack Daugherty.
