Ysaiah Ross
Ysaiah 'Stan' Ross is an American lawyer, academic and writer. Ross was educated in New York and California, gaining a law degree from the University of California, Berkeley, in 1964. Before teaching law and legal ethics at the University of New South Wales, he lectured at Auckland University and Makerere University, Uganda. He was one of the founders of the Berkeley Neighborhood Legal Service in 1967 and, in 1968, was appointed its acting director. He has been a consultant to the Law Reform Commission of New South Wales and Papua New Guinea. He co-authored 16 books, mostly on legal ethics. He wrote columns for the ''Australian Financial Review'' from 1999 to 2003; the ''Australian Lawyer'' from 1996 to 1997 and ''The Australian'' from 2004 to 2008. Stanley Ralph Ross
Stanley Ralph Ross (July 22, 1935 – March 16, 2000) was an American writer and actor. Born Stanley Ralph Rosenberg, he was raised in Brooklyn, New York, working at Nathan’s Famous and as a barker at the Coney Island freak show. His classmate at Abraham Lincoln High School (and later the best man at his wedding) was Louis Gossett Jr.. Career After graduating from high school in 1952, Ross sang with a vocal group first called The Three Feathers, and then The Formals, who recorded a single for Dawn Records. Their arranger was Dave Lambert. Rather than going to college, Ross performed as a comedy duo with Paul Krassner. He then sold adding machines, and worked as an agent for photographers (including Weegee) and models. “I didn’t know I was a writer,” Ross later recalled. “I didn’t find that out until many years later.” Ross moved to Los Angeles in 1956, and met his wife, Neila Hyman, almost immediately. Gold Star Studios was an independent recording studio located in Hollywood, California. In its entire history, Gold Star was one of the most successful commercial recording studios in the world. Founded by David S. Gold and Stan Ross and opened in October 1950, Gold Star Recording Studios was located at 6252 Santa Monica Boulevard near the corner of Vine Street in Hollywood, the studio name was a combination of the names of the two owners—(Dave) GOLD and STA(n) R(oss). The studio was renowned for its unique custom-designed recording equipment, which was designed and built by Gold, and for its echo chambers (also designed and built by Gold), which were utilised heavily by producers, most notably, Phil Spector. Stanley Ross
Stanley Ross was a moniker used by American indie songwriter Nicholas Meiers based in Chicago. Meiers is also the owner/operator of Nodak Records, a split seven-inch vinyl label based in Chicago. Meiers began performing as Stanley Ross, solo or with a band, in 2004. He has performed in numerous bands over the years, including Lardo, Soft Jolts, Devin Davis, Love Story in Blood Red, The Last Cannibals, Harbor Lights, and Barbeau. In 2011, Meiers appeared vocally on the debut album of Chicago-based band Phantom Works. Nicholas Meiers is also the grandson of former North Dakota Lt. Governor Ruth Meiers.
