Stanley Moore is a member of the Cook County Board of Commissioners who has represented the 4th district since his appointment on April 11, 2013. The 4th district covers both Chicago and its suburbs. It includes the Chicago neighborhoods of Auburn Gresham, Avalon Park, Calumet Heights, Chatham, East Side, Hegewisch, Pullman, Roseland, South Chicago, South Deering, and the suburbs of Burnham, Calumet City, Evergreen Park, and Lansing. Stanley Williams Moore (July 24, 1914 – December 5, 1997) was an American professor of philosophy, specializing in the study of Karl Marx. He taught at Reed College until 1954, when he was subpoenaed by the House Un-American Activities Committee and refused to answer questions about his political beliefs. He was fired by the college and worked part-time for Barnard College for the next decade, before being offered a full-time position with the University of California, San Diego. Early life Moore was born on July 24, 1914, in Oakland, California. Growing up on a ranch near San Jose, he studied philosophy at the University of California, Berkeley. He graduated with a bachelor's of arts degree in 1935 and studied briefly at Harvard University, before returning to Berkeley to receive his Ph.D. in 1940. Stanley Clark Moore (born February 9, 1956, in Memphis, Tennessee) is an American film director, screenwriter, and film producer. Early life Moore was born in Memphis, Tennessee, to a military (Air Force) family. He spent his childhood on several U.S. Air Force bases around Texas and Nevada before his father settled in Houston, Texas, as a pilot for Delta Air Lines. In his early teens, he made amateur 8 mm films with his friends as high school projects. One film, based on the story of Agamemnon, was aired on the local NBC affiliate in Houston. He attended Humble High School in Texas earning letters in football and baseball, plus being named to the National Honor Society and graduating in the top ten of his class. In the autumn of 1974, Moore headed to Baylor University to study Biology and Chemistry and work on a Pre-Med degree.
