The song was written by Summer, Danielle Brisebois, and Greg Kurstin, who also produced the track. Donna Summer
LaDonna Adrian Gaines (December 31, 1948May 17, 2012), known professionally as Donna Summer, was an American singer and songwriter. She gained prominence during the disco era of the 1970s and became known as the "Honorific nicknames in popular music, Queen of Disco", while her music gained a global following. Influenced by the counterculture of the 1960s, Summer became the lead singer of a psychedelic rock band named Crow and moved to New York City. In 1968, she joined a German adaptation of the musical ''Hair (musical), Hair'' in Munich, where she spent several years living, acting, and singing. There, she met music producers Giorgio Moroder and Pete Bellotte, and they went on to record influential disco hits together such as "Love to Love You Baby (song), Love to Love You Baby" and "I Feel Love", marking Summer's breakthrough into international music markets. ''Summer: The Donna Summer Musical'' is a jukebox musical with book by Colman Domingo, Robert Cary, and Des McAnuff and music and lyrics Donna Summer, Giorgio Moroder, Pete Bellotte, Paul Jabara, and others, based on the life of Summer. The musical made its premiere at the La Jolla Playhouse in November 2017 and opened on Broadway in April 2018. Productions The La Jolla Playhouse presented the musical in a limited engagement from November 7 until December 24, 2017. The musical premiered on Broadway at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on March 28, 2018 (previews), prior to an April 23, 2018 opening.
