Staldmestergården (English: Stable Master's House) is a historic building overlooking Frederiksholm Canal on Slotsholmen, between Christiansborg Rising Grounds and Christian IV's Brewhouse, in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally built for the avener and other administration personnel of the royal stables, it now houses the Ministries of Education and Ecclesiastical Affairs. The building was listed in the Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. History Staldmestergården was built from 1703 to 1705 as a residence for the staff working at the Royal Stables at neighbouring Copenhagen Castle. In the early 20th century, the central administration needed more space and the stables administration had to vacate the building. One of the institutions which in 1910 moved in was the ''Kultus Ministry''. Frederiksholms Kanal
Frederiksholms Kanal is a canal in central Copenhagen, Denmark, which runs along the south-west side of Slotsholmen, together with Slotholmens Kanal separating the island from Zealand. The name also applies to the continuation of Rådhusstræde which follows the canal for most of its course, first on its south side and for the last stretch, from Prinsens Bro and to the waterfront, on both sides of the canal. Several historic buildings face the canal, ranging in size from Prince's Mansion, now housing National Museum, and Christiansborg's riding grounds to the diminutive Stable Boy's House, part of Civiletatens Materialgård, a former storage facility now used by the Royal Danish Academy of Fine Arts's School of Sculpture. Christof Marselis was an architect. Circa 1702, he travelled to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he worked as royal architect under Wilhelm Friedrich von Platen. Ernst Brandenburger
Ernst Brandenburger (active from 1689 – died c. 1713) was a Danish master builder and entrepreneur who, through his collaboration with Christof Marselis (ca. 1670–1731) and Wilhelm Friedrich von Platen (1667-1732), left his mark on Danish Baroque architecture during the early reign of King Frederick IV. Biography Brandenburger was engaged as master builder for the island of Funen in 1690. By 1695, he was working as master mason at the royal palaces and as constructor of royal buildings in 1698. From 1700 he also owned a brickyard in Vedbæk. He was royal building inspector from 1704 and until his death, presumably in 1713 since he was buried from St. Peter's Church in Copenhagen on 14 December that year. Slotsholmen ( English: The Castle Islet) is an island in the harbour of Copenhagen, Denmark, and part of Copenhagen Inner City. The name is taken from the successive castles and palaces located on the island since Bishop Absalon constructed the city's first castle on the island in 1167 at the site where Christiansborg Palace lies today.
