Staldmestergården
Staldmestergården (English language, English: Stable Master's House) is a historic building overlooking Frederiksholms Kanal, Frederiksholm Canal on Slotsholmen, between Christiansborg Palace, Christiansborg Rising Grounds and Christian IV's Brewhouse, in central Copenhagen, Denmark. Originally built for the avener and other administration personnel of the royal stables, it now houses the Ministry of Education (Denmark), Ministries of Education and Minister for Ecclesiastical Affairs (Denmark), Ecclesiastical Affairs. The building was listed in the Listed buildings in Copenhagen Municipality#Slotsholmen, Danish registry of protected buildings and places in 1918. Frederiksholms Kanal
Frederiksholms Kanal is a canal in central Copenhagen, Denmark, which runs along the south-west side of Slotsholmen, together with Slotsholmskanalen separating the island from Zealand. The name also applies to the continuation of Rådhusstræde which follows the canal for most of its course, first on its south side and for the last stretch, from Prinsens Bro and to the waterfront, on both sides of the canal. Christof Marselis was an architect. Circa 1702, he travelled to Copenhagen, Denmark, where he worked as royal architect under Wilhelm Friedrich von Platen. Ernst Brandenburger
Ernst Brandenburger (active from 1689 – died c. 1713) was a Danish master builder and entrepreneur who, through his collaboration with Christof Marselis (ca. 1670–1731) and Wilhelm Friedrich von Platen (1667-1732), left his mark on Danish Baroque architecture during the early reign of King Frederick IV. Biography Brandenburger was engaged as master builder for the island of Funen in 1690. By 1695, he was working as master mason at the royal palaces and as constructor of royal buildings in 1698. From 1700 he also owned a brickyard in Vedbæk. He was royal building inspector from 1704 and until his death, presumably in 1713 since he was buried from St. Peter's Church in Copenhagen on 14 December that year. Slotsholmen (English language, English: The Castle Islet) is an island in the harbour of Copenhagen, Denmark, and part of Copenhagen Indre By, Inner City. The name is taken from the successive castles and palaces located on the island since Absalon, Bishop Absalon constructed the city's first castle on the island in 1167 at the site where Christiansborg Palace lies today. The Baroque ( , , ) is a Western style of architecture, music, dance, painting, sculpture, poetry, and other arts that flourished from the early 17th century until the 1750s. The architecture of Denmark has its origins in the Viking Age, revealed by archaeological finds. It was established in the Middle Ages when first Romanesque architecture, Romanesque, then Gothic architecture, Gothic churches and cathedrals, were built throughout the country. During this period, brick became the construction material of choice for churches, fortifications and castles, as the country had little access to stone. Under the influence of Frederick II of Denmark, Frederick II and Christian IV of Denmark, Christian IV, both of whom had been inspired by the Château, castles of France, Dutch and Flemish designers were brought to Denmark to improve the country's fortifications.
