Stadionul Minerul (Motru)
Minerul Stadium is a multi-use stadium in Motru, Romania. It is currently used mostly for football matches and is the home ground of Minerul Motru youth squads. The stadium holds 5,000 people. During the 2017–18 Liga II season, Pandurii Târgu Jiu played their home matches at the Minerul Stadium because of the rebuilding of the Tudor Vladimirescu Stadium from Târgu Jiu Târgu Jiu () is the capital of Gorj County in the Oltenia region of Romania. Motru
Motru () is a city in Romania, Gorj County. It is situated on the river Motru in western Oltenia. The county capital Târgu Jiu is located about 35 km northeast. The city administers eight villages: Dealu Pomilor, Horăști, Însurăței, Leurda, Lupoița, Ploștina, Roșiuța and Râpa. History Motru was created by an administrative decision on the day of 24 May 1966 on the territory of the former Ploștina commune, which, together with seven other villages, became part of the new city. The reason behind the decision to create a city was the development of several coal deposits. The region is at least since the time of the Roman Empire inhabited, in Leurda in 1964, some silver coins from the era of Emperor Septimius Severus (193-211) were found. Clubul Sportiv Minerul Motru, commonly known as Minerul Motru is a Romanian amateur football club based in Motru, Gorj County, currently playing in the Liga IV, the fourth tier of the Romanian football league system. The 2017–18 Liga II (also known as 2017–18 Liga II Casa Pariurilor) was the 78th season of the Liga II, the second tier of the Romanian football league system. The season began on 5 August 2017 and ended on 2 June 2018. A total of 20 teams contested the league. It was the second Liga II season with a single series. The season was played in a round-robin tournament. Pandurii Târgu Jiu
The uprising of 1821 was a social and political rebellion in Wallachia, which was at the time a tributary state of the Ottoman Empire. It originated as a movement against the Phanariote administration, with backing from the more conservative boyars, but mutated into an attempted removal of the boyar class. Though not directed against Ottoman rule, the revolt espoused an early version of Romanian nationalism, and is described by historians as the first major event of a national awakening. The revolutionary force was centered on a group of Pandur irregulars, whose leader was Tudor Vladimirescu. Its nucleus was the Wallachian subregion of Oltenia, where Vladimirescu established his "Assembly of the People" in February. Târgu Jiu
Târgu Jiu () is the capital of Gorj County in the Oltenia region of Romania. It is situated on the Southern Sub-Carpathians, on the banks of the river Jiu. Eight localities are administered by the city: Bârsești, Drăgoieni, Iezureni, Polata, Preajba Mare, Romanești, Slobozia and Ursați. The city is noted for the Sculptural Ensemble of Constantin Brâncuși. History The city takes its name from the river Jiu, which runs through it. In antiquity, there was a Dacian village in around the location of today's city surrounded by forests. After the Roman conquests of Oltenia (101-102), military units were stationed around the roads that connected different important routes at the time.
