Stadion Brühl is a football stadium at Grenchen in the Canton of Solothurn, Switzerland. It is the home ground of FC Grenchen since 1927. Its maximum capacity is 10,964. The annual Uhrencup tournament is held there. And the Swiss Bowl championship final game of the Nationalliga A (American football) has been held since 2022. Grenchen () is a Municipalities of Switzerland, municipality in the district of Lebern (district), Lebern in the Cantons of Switzerland, canton of Solothurn (canton), Solothurn in Switzerland. FC Grenchen is a Swiss football club, based in Grenchen. They currently play in the 2. Liga, and play their matches at the Brühl Stadium. History FC Grenchen was founded in 1906. In 1937 they gained promotion to the top league of Swiss football, Nationalliga A, in these inter-war years they came runners-up in this league three times, and runner up in the cup, but their biggest success came post-war coming second in the league one further time and winning the cup in 1959. The Uhrencup is a association football, club football tournament, held annually in Grenchen and Biel/Bienne, Biel in Switzerland. The Uhrencup is seen as a testament to the major influence that is exercised by the local watchmaking industry on the cultural lives of the area's residents ( is German for "watches"). The tournament usually features four teams (sometimes more), each playing two matches, and is held in July as a Exhibition game, friendly tournament, the format of which tends to be fluid. The Nationalliga A is the highest league level of American football in Switzerland and was formed in 1982. The first Swiss Bowl championship was played in 1986. Below the ''Nationalliga A'' sits the ''Nationalliga B'', also made up of six teams. The champion of the B division has the opportunity to earn promotion to the top division through a relegation/promotion match. There is also a National League C. History On 4 April 2024, the owners of the Helvetic Guards, the previous ELF team based in Switzerland, announced that the team would be ceasing operations, and that a new team would be replacing them for the 2024 European League of Football season. On 11 April 2024, the logo and the name Helvetic Mercenaries was announced.
