Stade Saputo
Saputo Stadium ( French: ''Stade Saputo'') is a soccer-specific stadium at Olympic Park in the borough of Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The stadium opened on May 21, 2008, and is the current home of CF Montréal (formerly the Montreal Impact). The stadium is built on the former practice track and field site on the grounds of the 1976 Summer Olympics, while the stadium's east side has a view of Olympic Stadium's inclined tower. It has a capacity of 19,619, making it the second-largest soccer-specific stadium in Canada, after BMO Field in Toronto. The 1976 Summer Olympics (), officially known as the Games of the XXI Olympiad () and officially branded as Montreal 1976 (), were an international multi-sport event held from July 17 to August 1, 1976, in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. Montreal was awarded the rights to the 1976 Games at the 69th IOC Session in Amsterdam on May 12, 1970, over the bids of Moscow and Los Angeles. Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve () is a borough of Montreal, Quebec, Canada located in the southeastern end of the island. History ''See Mercier and Hochelaga-Maisonneuve articles for a more detailed histories of respective areas'' Hochelaga was founded as a village in 1870, and annexed to Montreal in 1883. In response, dissatisfied landowners founded the village of Maisonneuve to the east. Maisonneuve grew rapidly and became known as ''the Pittsburgh of Canada'' for its heavy industry, before finally being annexed to Montreal in 1918. These factories hired many workers, including immigrants and people from the surrounding countryside. The Montreal Olympic Park () is a sports and entertainment precinct located in the Hochelaga-Maisonneuve neighbourhood of Montreal, Quebec. It is separated from Maisonneuve Park and the Montreal Botanical Garden by Sherbrooke Street on its northern end (in Montreal's cardinal regime), and bordered by Viau Street to its east, Pierre de Coubertin Avenue to its south, and Pie-IX Boulevard to its west.
