Stade De Linguère
Stade de Linguère, better known as Stade Mawade Wade is a multi-use stadium in Saint-Louis, Senegal. It is currently used mostly for football matches and serves as a home ground of ASC Linguère of the Senegal Premier League. It is also home to another club known as Saint-Louis FC The stadium holds 8,000 spectators. Seven continental matches took place at the stadium. The first being the 1989 CAF Winners' Cup, then the 1991 edition took place there, the 1997 CAF Cup took place in the stadium, where Linguère lost the only match at the continentals at home. The fourth and last continental cup competition was at the stadium in 2008 with two matches. The only continental championship matches were held was the 2010 CAF Champions League with two matches. Saint Louis or Saint-Louis ( wo, Ndar), is the capital of Senegal's Saint-Louis Region. Located in the northwest of Senegal, near the mouth of the Senegal River, and 320 km north of Senegal's capital city Dakar, it has a population officially estimated at 258,592 in 2021. Saint-Louis was the capital of the French colony of Senegal from 1673 until 1902 and French West Africa from 1895 until 1902, when the capital was moved to Dakar. ASC Linguère is a Senegalese football club based in Saint-Louis. It plays in the second division in Senegalese football. Its home stadium is Stade de Linguère. Linguère is joint eighth in the number of major honours won in Senegal (five) with ASC Port Autonome of Dakar, Casa Sports of Ziguinchor and Djambars FC. History ASC Linguère was founded on 14 September 1969 after the merger of two clubs, Espoir de Saint-Louis and AS Saint-Louisienne. The 2010 CAF Champions League was the 46th edition of Africa's premier club football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), and the 14th edition under the current CAF Champions League format. 2009 Ligue 1 (Senegal)
The 2009 Ligue 1 season was the 44th of the competition of the first-tier football in Senegal and the second professional season. The tournament was organized by the Senegalese Football Federation. The season began a little earlier on 2 May and finished on 31 October. It was the first season labelled as a "League" ("Ligue" in French). ASC Linguère won their first and only title, the next club to win three consecutive titles, and a year later would compete in the 2010 CAF Champions League. ASC Diaraf who won the 2008 Senegalese Cup participated in the 2009 CAF Confederation Cup.
