Stacy Gaskill (born May 21, 2000) is an American snowboarder who competes internationally in the snowboard cross discipline. She represented the United States at the 2022 Winter Olympics. Snowboard cross, also known as boardercross, is a snowboard competition in which four to six competitors race down a course. Snowboard cross courses are typically quite narrow and include cambered turns, various types of jumps, berms, rollers, drops, steep and flat sections designed to challenge the riders' ability to stay in control while maintaining maximum speed. It is not uncommon for racers to collide with each other mid-race. Snowboard cross courses share common traits with motorcycle motocross courses, hence the similarity between the names of each sport. The women's snowboard cross competition in snowboarding at the 2022 Winter Olympics was held on 9 February, at the Genting Snow Park in Zhangjiakou. Lindsey Jacobellis of the United States became the Olympic champion. Jacobellis dominated the snowboard cross for almost two decades, winning the X Games ten times and the world championships six times, but her only Olympic medal so far was the silver in 2006, when she started celebrating her win too early and was overtaken at the finish line. Martha Hill is an American para-alpine skier. She represented the United States at the 1984 Winter Paralympics and at the 1988 Winter Paralympics in alpine skiing. Career At the 1984 Winter Paralympics, she finished fourth in downhill, fifth in super combined, and sixth, both in slalom, and giant slalom. At the 1988 Winter Paralympics, she won the silver medals in the Women's Downhill LW2 event and in the Women's Slalom LW2 event. 1988 Winter Paralympics
The 1988 Winter Paralympic Games (german: Paralympische Winterspiele 1988) were the fourth Winter Paralympics, held again in Innsbruck, Austria. These were the last Winter Paralympics to be held in a separate location from the Winter Olympics. Beginning in 1992, the Olympics and the Paralympics were held in the same city or in an adjacent city. These Paralympics were not held at the same Olympic venue in Calgary, Canada, because of financial and recruiting difficulties. A total of 377 athletes from 22 countries took part.
