St Helens R.F.C. Women
The rugby league club St Helens R.F.C. have operated a women's team since they took some women from Thatto Heath Crusaders, and other women's sides in 2017 ahead of the 2018 season. They won four successive Women's Challenge Cup, Challenge Cups from 2013 to 2016, and again from 2021–2024. The 2016 win formed part of their The Treble (rugby league), treble winning season. The side won the 2021 Women's Challenge Cup after beating York Valkyrie, York City Knights, adding to the four cup titles won as Thatto Heath. That season, they also completed the treble for the second time. In 2024 the club announced it would become semi-professional, and start making match payments to players, becoming the third British side to do so after Leeds Rhinos Women, Leeds and York Valkyrie, York who started the season prior. Thatto Heath Crusaders
Thatto Heath Crusaders is an amateur rugby league club situated in Thatto Heath, St Helens, Merseyside. The club currently competes in the National Conference League Premier Division History ''Thatto Heath'' RLFC began life in 1981, originally formed by ex-St Helens R.F.C. player Frankie Barrow. The team began competing in the North West Counties 4th Division, and the ‘A’ Team entered Division 5. The team progressed through the divisions rapidly and finished the 1986−87 season by lifting the North West Counties Premier Division Championship Trophy, the St Helens Cup and they took out the BARLA National Cup Final with a 15–8 victory over the National Conference League Champions Heworth. 2022 RFL Women's Super League
The 2022 RFL Women's Super League (also known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons) was the sixth season of the Rugby League Women's Super League, for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League (RFL). The title was won by Leeds Rhinos who beat York City Knights 12–4 in the grand final. York had finished top of the table to win the league leader's shield. The defending champions were St Helens, who beat Leeds Rhinos 28–0 in the Grand Final at Headingley on 10 October 2021, in front of a record crowd of 4,235. The 2019 RFL Women's Super League known as the Betfred Women's Super League for sponsorship reasons was the third season of the Rugby League Women's Super League for female players in clubs affiliated to the Rugby Football League. The champions were Leeds Rhinos who beat Castleford Tigers 20–12 in the Grand Final on 11 October 2019. Castleford Tigers won the league leaders shield, a 44–0 win over York City Knights in round 13 put them three points clear of nearest rivals, St Helens, with a round to spare. Leeds Rhinos Women are a rugby league team based in Leeds, West Yorkshire, England. The team is part of the Leeds Rhinos club and plays in the Women's Super League. They were the RFL Women's Super League champions in 2019 and 2022, and from 2023 they became the first semi-professional women's rugby league team in the UK.
