St. Thomas (electoral Ward)
St. Thomas is an electoral ward of Swansea, Wales. The electoral ward of St. Thomas consists of the following areas: Dan-y-graig, Port Tennant, St. Thomas, Kilvey Hill and the Grenfell Park Area, in the parliamentary constituency of Swansea East. The ward is bounded by Neath Port Talbot to the east; Waterfront to the south; Bonymaen to the north; and Castle and Landore to the east. The River Tawe forms part of the border between St. Thomas and the Castle ward. The northern part of the ward is dominated by Kilvey Hill. A residential belt lies in the central part of the ward. The suburb of St. Thomas is a residential area located immediately east of Swansea city centre. Port Tennant and Grenfell Park, further east of St. Thomas are small council estates comprising fairly run down housing stock. Bon-y-maen (sometimes spelt ''Bonymaen''; ) is a community in Swansea, Wales located about north east of Swansea city centre. It falls within the coterminous Bonymaen ward for elections to Swansea Council. is Welsh for and there are legends that the same stone ends in on the Gower Peninsula. 2022 Welsh Local Elections
The 2022 Welsh local elections took place on 5 May 2022 to elect members of all twenty-two local authorities in Wales. They were held alongside 2022 United Kingdom local elections, other local elections in the United Kingdom. The previous elections were held in 2017 Welsh local elections, 2017. The Welsh Conservatives lost over a third of their seats and their majority on Monmouthshire County Council. Plaid Cymru won outright control of four councils, which was the highest number in the party's history, however their overall number of councillors elected decreased. Swansea Docks
Swansea Docks is the collective name for several docks in Swansea, Wales, which are immediately south-east of Swansea city centre. In the mid-19th century, the port was exporting 60% of the world's copper from factories situated in the Tawe Valley. The River Tawe (; ) is a long river in South Wales. Its headwaters flow initially east from its source below Llyn y Fan Fawr south of Glasfynydd Forest, Moel Feity in the Black Mountain (range), Black Mountains, the westernmost range of the Brecon Beacons National Park, before the river turns south and then southwest to its estuary at Swansea. Landore
Landore () is a district and community in Swansea, Wales. The district falls in the Landore council ward. A mainly residential area, it is located about 2.5 miles north of Swansea city centre. The north-easterly part of Landore is known as Morfa. There have been a number of new developments in the 21st century, such as the Liberty Stadium, now the Swansea.com Stadium, and the Morfa Shopping Park, which opened in 2005.
