The St. Paul Fighting Saints are a defunct professional ice hockey team. Based in Saint Paul, Minnesota, they played the 1992–93 season in the American Hockey Association. The Fighting Saints played home games at the Minnesota State Fair coliseum, now known as the Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum. American Hockey Association (1992–93)
The American Hockey Association (AHA) was a semi-professional ice hockey league that operated for the 1992-93 season. The league operated independently, and was not affiliated with any higher league. The league operated with central ownership of teams, presided over by Charlie Hodgins. The league scheduled exhibition games with the Russian Red Army team, and also played against them in the all-star game. Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum
The Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum is a 5,000-seat indoor arena in Falcon Heights, Minnesota, United States. Built in 1951 on the grounds of the Minnesota State Fair, the venue hosts indoor events of the fair such as livestock shows, dog shows, equestrian and bull riding. During the fair, vendors selling merchandise such as Western wear fill the concourse. History The original structure on the site, the St. Paul Hippodrome, was built in 1906 and housed an indoor ice rink from 1909 to 1942. The building fell into disrepair after being used as a military aircraft propeller plant during World War II. The current structure was built in 1951 in an Art Deco style consistent with other fairgrounds buildings of the era. It continued to be known as the Hippodrome until 1975 when it was renamed Coliseum. The arena was renamed Lee & Rose Warner Coliseum in 2006. Dave Langevin
David Richard Langevin (born May 15, 1954) is an American former professional ice hockey defenseman who played 216 games for the Edmonton Oilers in the World Hockey Association (WHA) as well as 513 games in the National Hockey League (NHL) for the New York Islanders, Minnesota North Stars and Los Angeles Kings between 1977 and 1987. He is a member of the United States Hockey Hall of Fame. Amateur career Langevin played for the University of Minnesota Duluth ice hockey team in 1972–76. He was also a member of the US national team at the 1976 Ice Hockey World Championship tournament in Katowice. Professional career Drafted 112th overall by the NY Islanders in the 1974 NHL Entry Draft, Langevin instead chose to sign with the Edmonton Oilers of the rival World Hockey Association, who also had selected him in the WHA draft the same year, since his prospects of getting regular playing time were better in the WHA.
