St. Paul is a parliamentary constituency in Saint Paul, Antigua and Barbuda. It is currently represented by foreign minister Paul Chet Greene. Saint Paul, Antigua And Barbuda
Saint Paul (), officially the Parish of Saint Paul, is a parish of Antigua and Barbuda on the island of Antigua. It had an estimated population of 9,004 in 2018. The parish capital, and the location of the parish church, is Falmouth. The main economic and tourism hub of the parish is English Harbour. Saint Paul borders Saint Peter and Saint John to the north, Saint Mary to the west, and Saint Philip to the east. Saint Paul is dominated by farmland in the north, with various creeks and Potworks Dam marking its northern border, and low-lying hills to the south, defining its western border with Saint Mary. The largest city fully within the parish is Liberta, the third largest city in the country. Saint Paul was permanently established with the other four original parishes in 1692. Saint Paul is mostly dominated by tourism and agriculture, with most settlement in the parish being based around Tyrells Main Road and Matthews Road. E. Paul Chet Greene (born 15 January 1964) is a Member of the House of Representatives (Antigua and Barbuda), Antigua and Barbuda House of Representatives, and a Cabinet Minister. Early life Chet was born and raised in Liberta, Antigua and Barbuda, Liberta. He was educated at the Liberta Primary School and the All Saints Secondary School. Political career Greene won the St. Paul (constituency), St. Paul constituency in the 2014 Antiguan general election, 2014 general election, defeating Elson Adams. Liberta, Saint Paul
Liberta is a village located in Saint Paul Parish, on the island of Antigua in Antigua and Barbuda. It had a population of 2,560 in 2001. It the third-largest village on Antigua. It is located in the southern island area, north of Falmouth Harbour and the port of Falmouth, to which it is connected by road. History Around the time of the 19th century British emancipation of slaves in British Antigua and Barbuda, a colonial plantation owner had financial troubles and was forced to sell off a part of her property in small lots. The ex-slaves in the neighbourhood bought up all the small freeholds, as they desired to own land in perpetuity. "Liberta", meaning liberty and honoring the freed people, became the settlement's name in 1835. By 1842, a painted signboard near its border read: "The Village of Liberta". English Harbour
English Harbour is a natural harbour and settlement on the island of Antigua in the Caribbean, in the extreme south of the island. The settlement takes its name from the nearby harbour in which the Royal Navy established its base of operations for the area during the eighteenth century. Its population is 759 (2001 Census). English Harbour is a centre of boating, especially yachting. There are two sheltered deepwater harbours nearby; English Harbour itself and Falmouth Harbour. Naval history English Harbour is best known for Nelson's Dockyard, a former British Navy base; it displays restored 18th and 19th-century buildings and other historical artefacts from the colonial period of the dockyard, especially the time it was commanded by Horatio Nelson. Nelson's Dockyard
Nelson's Dockyard is a cultural heritage site and marina in English Harbour, located in Saint Paul Parish on the Caribbean island of Antigua, in Antigua and Barbuda. It is the only continuously working Georgian era dockyard in the world. It was built in the early 18th century and abandoned by the British Royal Navy in 1889. The dockyard is named after Admiral Horatio Nelson, who lived in the Royal Navy Dockyard from 1784 through 1787. Today, it is part of Nelson's Dockyard National Park and the Antigua Naval Dockyard and Related Archaeological Sites UNESCO World Heritage Site. Rodney Williams (governor-general)
Sir Rodney Errey Lawrence Williams, (born 2 November 1947) is an Antiguan former politician who is the current and 4th Governor-General of Antigua and Barbuda, having previously served as Minister for Education, Culture and Technology and as a Member of Parliament until 2004. Early life Rodney is the son of Ernest Emmanuel Williams, the former Antigua Labour Party (ALP) parliamentary representative for the St Paul constituency and Irene B. Williams, a professional educator in Antigua and Barbuda. Education Williams attended the Antigua Grammar School in St. John's, upon graduating he taught at his alma mater for a year. He then studied medicine at the University of the West Indies, Mona, where he received his MBBS degree in Medicine and Surgery in 1976.
