St. Mark Catholic High School (Ottawa)
Opened in 1980, St. Mark Catholic High School is located in Manotick, a neighbourhood in the city of Ottawa. Its enrollment is currently around 1100 after losing about 600 students to St. Francis Xavier Catholic High School in 2009 & 2010, after the completion of its construction in 2009. St. Francis Xavier is located just down Limebank Road, less than 10 minutes from St. Mark. History Originally built in 1980 as Southern Catholic Junior High with only grades 7 and 8, St. Mark received extensions and added grades 9 through 12 over the next seven years. There are a few original faculty members who still teach at St. Mark along with many others who have long been a part of the staff. In 2005, St. Mark celebrated its 25th anniversary and past faculty and alumni were invited to attend reunion festivities. Manotick, Ontario
Manotick ( ) is a community in Rideau-Jock Ward in the rural south part of the City of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is a suburb of the city, located on the Rideau River, immediately south of the suburbs Barrhaven and Riverside South, about from downtown Ottawa. It was founded by Moss Kent Dickinson in 1864. He named the village 'Manotick', after the Algonquin word for 'island'. It has been part of the City of Ottawa since amalgamation in 2001. Prior to that, it was located in Rideau Township. Scott Mitchell (born September 10, 1989) is a former Canadian football offensive linemen who last played with the Toronto Argonauts. In the Canadian Football League’s Amateur Scouting Bureau final rankings, he was ranked as the best player for players eligible in the 2011 CFL Draft. He was then drafted second overall by the Edmonton Eskimos in the draft and signed with the team on May 31, 2011. William "Will" Petschenig (born February 3, 1995) is a Canadian-Swiss professional ice hockey defenseman who is currently an unrestricted free agent. He was most recently contracted to play with the Kalamazoo Wings in the ECHL. Slater Koekkoek ( ; born February 18, 1994) is a Canadian professional ice hockey defenceman currently under contract to the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League (NHL).
