St. Catharines City Council
The St. Catharines City Council is the governing body of the City of St. Catharines, Ontario, Canada. The council consists of the mayor plus twelve elected councillors, with two councilors representing each of the six municipal wards. A deputy mayor is selected from among the city councillors who serves as acting mayor in the absence of the mayor. Ward (politics)
A ward is a local authority area, typically used for electoral purposes. In some countries, wards are usually named after neighbourhoods, thoroughfares, parishes, landmarks, geographical features and in some cases historical figures connected to the area (e.g. William Morris Ward in the London Borough of Waltham Forest, England). Mat Siscoe
Mathew Siscoe is a Canadian politician who is the current mayor of St. Catharines, Ontario. Career Mat Siscoe was elected as a city councillor for St. Catharines in 2010 and served three terms. He then filled a vacant seat on the Niagara Regional Council. He ran for St. Catharines in the 2014 Ontario general election but his candidacy was unsuccessful.
