Basilica Di Sant'Anastasia Al Palatino
Sant'Anastasia is a minor basilica and titular church for cardinal-priests in Rome, Italy owned by the Syro-Malabar Catholic Church. Basilica Sant'Anastasia was built in the late 3rd century - early 4th century, possibly by a Roman woman named Anastasia. The church is listed under the ''titulus Anastasiae'' in the acts of the 499 synod. Later the church was entitled to the martyr with the same name, Anastasia of Sirmium. Melchiorri in his 19th century guide of Rome, mentions a Roman matron by the name of Apollonia founded the church. The church was restored several times: Pope Damasus I (366-383), Pope Hilarius (461-468), Pope John VII (705-707), Pope Leo III (795-816), Pope Gregory IV (827-844), Pope Innocent III (1201), and Pope Sixtus IV (1471). The current church dates to a restoration in 1636 commissioned by Pope Urban VIII from Luigi Arrigucci. This restoration repaired the collapsed portico and facade. The Cathedral of St. Anastasia () is the Roman Catholic cathedral of Zadar, Croatia, seat of the Archdiocese of Zadar, and the largest church in all of Dalmatia (the coastal region of Croatia). The church's origins date back to a Christian basilica built in the 4th and 5th centuries, while much of the currently standing three-nave building was constructed in the Romanesque style during the 12th and 13th centuries. The site has been submitted to UNESCO's Tentative List of World Heritage Sites. History The first known bishop in Zadar was Felix. He attended two church councils, the first in Aquileia in 381 and the second in Milan in 390. The basilica's original patron was St. Peter. During the time of bishop Donatus, the diocese received the ashes of Saint Anastasia of Sirmium from Emperor Nikephoros I, whom the cathedral took as patron. Ana ( sr-Cyrl, Ана); – died 22 June 1200) was the princess consort of the Serbian Principality as the wife of Stefan Nemanja (). She was of noble descent. Ana took monastic vows in 1196 and was tonsured as Anastasia, after Anastasia of Sirmium. She is venerated as a saint in the Eastern Orthodox Church, particularly in the Serbian Orthodox Church, where she is known as Saint Anastasia () with her feast day being commemorated on 21 June (on the Julian Calendar). Theories of origin Her origins have never been concluded.
