The Serbian Progressive Party (, SNS) is a major populist, catch-all political party in Serbia. It has been the ruling party since 2012. Miloš Vučević, the former prime minister of Serbia, has served as its president since 2023. Founded by Tomislav Nikolić and Aleksandar Vučić in 2008 as a split from the Serbian Radical Party, SNS served in opposition to the Democratic Party until 2012. SNS gained prominence and became the largest opposition party due to their anti-corruption platform and the protests in 2011 at which they demanded early elections. In 2012, Nikolić was elected president of Serbia and succeeded by Vučić as president of SNS. A coalition government led by SNS and Socialist Party of Serbia (SPS) was also formed. Vučić became prime minister in 2014 while SNS became the largest party in Belgrade and Vojvodina in 2014 and 2016 respectively. Miloš Vučević
Miloš Vučević ( sr-Cyrl, Милош Вучевић, ; born 10 December 1974) is a Serbian politician and lawyer who served as Prime Minister of Serbia from 2024 to 2025. He has been the president of the Serbian Progressive Party (SNS) since 2023. He was previously the Mayor of Novi Sad from 2012 to 2022 and the Ministry of Defence (Serbia), Minister of Defence and Deputy Prime Minister of Serbia from 2022 to 2024. Born in Novi Sad, Vučević graduated from the University of Novi Sad Faculty of Law, Faculty of Law of the University of Novi Sad in 1999, after which he worked as a lawyer. He joined SNS in 2008 and was elected the president of the party's Novi Sad branch in 2011. He led SNS in the 2012 Serbian local elections, 2012 local elections, winning 16% of the popular vote in Novi Sad. European People's Party
The European People's Party (EPP) is a European political party with Christian democracy, Christian democratic, liberal conservatism, liberal-conservative, and conservative member parties. A transnational organisation, it is composed of other political parties. Founded by primarily Christian-democratic parties in 1976, it has since broadened its membership to include liberal conservatism, liberal-conservative parties and parties with other centre-right politics, centre-right political perspectives. On 31 May 2022, the party elected as its President Manfred Weber, who was also EPP's ''Spitzenkandidat'' in 2019. 2012 Serbian Presidential Election
Presidential elections were held in Serbia on 6 May 2012 alongside 2012 Serbian parliamentary election, parliamentary elections. The elections were called following President of Serbia, President Boris Tadić's early resignation in order to coincide with the parliamentary and local elections to be held on the same date. The Speaker of the Parliament, Slavica Đukić Dejanović, took over as the Acting President. As no candidate won a majority, a runoff was on 20 May, with incumbent Tadić facing Tomislav Nikolić of the Serbian Progressive Party. According to preliminary results published by CeSID, Ipsos and RIK, Tomislav Nikolić had beaten his opponent Boris Tadić to become President of Serbia. Anti-corruption (or anticorruption) comprises activities that oppose or inhibit corruption. Just as corruption takes many forms, anti-corruption efforts vary in scope and in strategy. The Democratic Party (; , abbr. DS) is a social democratic list of political parties in Serbia, political party in Serbia.
