Srikanthalakshmi Arulanandam
Srikanthalakshmi Arulanandam (; 1961 – December 25, 2019) was a Sri Lanka, Sri Lankan librarian and writer, who was an advocate for feminism, media literacy and Eelam Tamil people, Eelam-Tamil bibliography. Born in Inuvil, the eldest of seven children, she studied at Sunnagam Ramanathan College and graduated with a degree in economics from University of Jaffna, Jaffna University. She then pursued a degree in information science and documentation from Kamarasar University, Madurai. Her career as a librarian began in 1989 as assistant librarian at Jaffna University and by 2012 was appointed principal librarian. She was elected president of the Sri Lanka Library Association in 2017 and was also president of the National Library and Information Science of Sri Lanka. She also published several books with Vanathi Publishing House. She died of a heart attack on 25 December 2019 in Inuvil. Eelam Tamil People
Sri Lankan Tamils ( or ), also known as Ceylon Tamils or Eelam Tamils, are Tamils native to the South Asian island state of Sri Lanka. Today, they constitute a majority in the Northern Province, form the plurality in the Eastern Province and are in the minority throughout the rest of the country. 70% of Sri Lankan Tamils in Sri Lanka live in the Northern and Eastern provinces. Modern Sri Lankan Tamils descend from residents of the Jaffna kingdom, a former kingdom in the north of Sri Lanka and Vanni chieftaincies from the east. According to the anthropological and archaeological evidence, Sri Lankan Tamils have a very long history in Sri Lanka and have lived on the island since at least around the 2nd century BCE.
