''Sri Raghupati'' is an Indian Assamese-language crime thriller film directed by Suvrat Kakoti. It stars Ravi Sarma, Arun Hazarika, Arun Nath, Priyam Pallavi, and Preety Kongana in lead roles. The film is about the issue of women trafficking in the region. It was released in Assam and some cities outside Assam. It is the highest grossing Assamese film of all time surpassing ''Bidurbhai'' (2024). Ravi Sarma ( as, ৰবি শৰ্মা) is an Indian actor who works in the Assamese cinema. He has starred in films like ''Hiya Diya Niya'', '' Nayak'', ''Iman Morom Kiyo Lage'', ''Barood'', ''Aami Asomiya'' etc. He is also a famous name in Assamese mobile theatre. Assamese Language
Assamese (), also Asamiya ( ), is an Indo-Aryan language spoken mainly in the north-east Indian state of Assam, where it is an official language, and it serves as a ''lingua franca'' of the wider region. The easternmost Indo-Iranian language, it has over 23 million speakers. Assamese cinema, also known as Jollywood, is an Indian film industry of Assamese-language motion pictures. It is based in Assam, India. The industry was born in 1935 when Jyoti Prasad Agarwala released his movie '' Joymoti''. Since then the Assamese cinema has developed a slow-paced, sensitive style, especially with the movies of Bhabendra Nath Saikia and Jahnu Barua. The industry is called Jollywood, named for Agarwala's Jyoti Chitraban Film Studio. Despite its long history and its artistic successes, for a state that has always taken its cinema seriously, Assamese cinema has never really managed to break through on the national scene despite its film industry making a mark in the National Awards over the years.
