Deshabandu Julian Bolling (born 19 June 1966) is a Sri Lankan medal-winning swimmer who has represented his country at numerous international competitions. He is fondly remembered as the poster boy of Sri Lankan swimming as well as the pin-up boy of Sri Lankan swimming in the 1980s. He has won 15 gold medals for Sri Lanka at the South Asian Games between 1984 and 1991. He also represented Sri Lanka at three Olympic Games, firstly at Los Angeles (USA) in 1984, then at Seoul (South Korea) in 1988, and finally at Barcelona (Spain) in 1992. Pushpamali Ramanayake (born 25 December 1967 in Colombo) is a Sri Lankan sport shooter. She has competed for Sri Lanka in rifle shooting at three Olympics (1992, 1996, 2004), and has won a gold medal with fellow shooter Malini Wickramasinghe in the air rifle pairs at the 1994 Commonwealth Games in Victoria, British Columbia, Canada. Career Ramanayake began shooting in 1989 as a member of the Sri Lankan Army under the tutelage and early stewardship of former Olympian and commanding officer Daya Rajasingha. Pathmasiri Niroshan Bandara Wijekoon (born February 10, 1964) is a Sri Lankan Olympian and the first badminton player to represent Sri Lanka. Wijekoon held the Sri Lankan National Badminton Championships singles title for nine years (1983–1987 and 1989–1992). Mohotti Arachchilage Sriyani Kulawansha-Fonsekca (born 1 March 1970) is a retired Sri Lankan hurdler. Her personal best time was 12.91 seconds, achieved in the quarter-finals of the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta. She represented Sri Lanka in the 1992 Olympic Games held in Spain at the young age of 22. The 1996 Olympic Games held in US saw her advancing to the quarter finals of the 100m Hurdles event as she registered her personal best timing of 12.91 sec. Kuruppu Arachchige Karunaratne (or K.A. Karunaratne; 29 April 1960 – 6 April 2008) was a Sri Lankan long-distance runner who specialized in the marathon event. As a runner he won 1990 Singapore Marathon in a time of 2:21:10, competed at the 1992 Summer Olympics and the 1993 World Championships. He was killed on 6 April 2008 along with 14 others by a suicide bomber, who exploded himself at the start of a marathon race which was part of the Sinhala and Tamil New Year celebration in Weliveriya town. Deshabandu Sriyantha Dissanayake (also known as Sriyantha Subashan Abeysekara Dissanayake) is a Sri Lankan sprint athlete specializing in the 100 and 200 metres. Early life and education Sriyantha was a champion athlete during his school days at Nalanda College Colombo in the late 1980s. He became national champion at the age of eighteen and went on to win this honour 6 more times. Career Sriyantha Dissanayake won a silver and a bronze medal in the 1990 Asian Games in Beijing and brought pride to Sri Lanka.
