Squigglevision
Squigglevision is a method of computer animation in which the outlines of shapes are made to wikt:wiggle, wiggle and wikt:undulation, undulate, emulating the effect of sketchily hand-drawn animation. Tom Snyder (animator), Tom Snyder of Tom Snyder Productions invented the technique, which his animation studio Soup2Nuts subsequently used in ''Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist'' in 1995, and in ''Dick and Paula Celebrity Special'', the first season of ''Home Movies (TV series), Home Movies'', ''O'Grady'', and ''Science Court''. Compared with traditional animation, Squigglevision is relatively fast and easy to produce. ''Science Court'' (retitled ''Squigglevision'' in 1998) is an educational entertainment, animation/Court show#List of present-day nontraditional court shows, non-traditional court show from Soup2Nuts, Tom Snyder Productions, which was aired on American Broadcasting Company, ABC's ABC Kids (TV programming block), Disney's One Saturday Morning block from 1997 to 2000. The cartoon was animated in Squigglevision. Development ''Science Court'' utilized the limited-animation Squigglevision as its style of animation. ''Home Movies'' is an American animated sitcom created by Brendon Small and Loren Bouchard. The show centers on an eight-year-old aspiring filmmaking, filmmaker, also named Brendon Small, who makes homemade film productions in his spare time with his friends Melissa Robbins and Jason Penopolis. He lives with his divorced mother Paula and his adopted baby sister Josie. He develops a skewed father-son-like relationship with his alcoholic, short-tempered soccer coach, John McGuirk. ''Home Movies'' premiered on UPN on April 26, 1999. Tom Snyder (born 1949) is an American animator, writer and producer known for the Squigglevision animation technique. His first success with this method was ''Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist'', starring Jonathan Katz. Snyder is a graduate of Swarthmore College, and as an educator he was inducted into the Association of Educational Publishers Hall of Fame. His educational work includes the series ''Science Court'' and educational computer software, such as FASTT Math. Since stepping down as chairman of "Tom Snyder Productions" he has worked on music composition and writing. In 2011, Snyder teamed up again with Katz to create an animated web series, ''ExplosionBus.com'' In 2016, he released a new category of audiobook called an AudioMusical. ''The Dick and Paula Celebrity Special'' is an adult animated series that aired on FX in 1999. The premise of the show was that Dick and Paula hosted a talk show where famous individuals, usually deceased, talked about their work or what made them widely known. The guest list included Charles Darwin, Marquis de Sade, Oedipus Rex, and Lewis and Clark, among many others. Accompanying the two hosts was a Paul Shaffer-esque keyboard player. This premise bears similarities with that of Steve Allen's ''Meeting of Minds''. Daniel Edward Antonucci (, ; born February 27, 1957) is a Canadian animator, director, producer, and writer. He created the Cartoon Network animated comedy series '' Ed, Edd n Eddy'' as well as '' Lupo the Butcher'' and ''The Brothers Grunt'' for MTV. John Michael Callahan (February 5, 1951 – July 24, 2010) was an American cartoonist, artist, and musician. His quadriplegia drove both his rough artistic style and much of his frequently impolite content. Accident and career Callahan became a Tetraplegia, quadriplegic in a drunk driving auto accident as a passenger in 1972 at age 21. The accident happened in Callahan's car, which was being driven by a man he did not know well. Following this, Callahan became a cartoonist, drawing by clutching a pen between both hands, having regained partial use of his upper body. His visual artistic style was simple and often rough, although still legible. Callahan's cartoons dealt with subjects often considered taboo, including disabilities and disease. Animation is a filmmaking technique whereby still images are manipulated to create moving images. In traditional animation, images are drawn or painted by hand on transparent celluloid sheets to be photographed and exhibited on film.
