Spyridon Flogaitis
Spyridon Flogaitis ( el, Σπυρίδων Φλογαΐτης; born 22 July 1950), is a Greek lawyer, jurist and academic who is currently a professor of public law at the University of Athens. He is the editor and founder of numerous legal journals, and is also a judge in the Council of State. Flogaitis has formerly served as an Alternate Minister of European Affairs in the Caretaker Cabinet of Vassiliki Thanou-Christophilou. He has also formerly served as an interim Minister of the Interior in 2007 Early life and education Flogaitis was born in Lefkada to Ioannis Flogaitis. In 1968, Flogaitis received his high school diploma from the 5th High School of Athens. In 1973, he received an undergraduate degree in law from the University of Athens. Ionian University
The Ionian University (Greek: Iόνιο Πανεπιστήμιο) is a university located in the Ionian Islands, Greece. It is one of the newest institutions of Higher Education in Greece, created in 1984 pursuant to presidential order 83/84 ΦΕΚ 31 Α/20-3-84, along with the University of the Aegean and the University of Thessaly. In 2018 TEI of Ionian islands merged into the Ionian University. The university opened its doors to students in Corfu in 1985. Theodoros Flogaitis
Theodoros Flogaitis ( el, Θεόδωρος Φλογαΐτης; 1840/48–1905) was a Greek jurist, politician and author. Early life Flogaitis was born in Nafplio in either 1840 or 1848. His father was Nikolaos Flogaitis. Career Flogaitis was the director of the newspaper, ''Syntagmatikos Ellin'' ("Constitutional Greek"), which was active in the aftermath of the October 1862 revolution that ousted King Otto of Greece. He later became a practising lawyer in Chalcis, before moving to Athens to lecture in constitutional law. In 1879 he was elected as an MP for Chalcis, and was a political opponent of Alexandros Koumoundouros. In 1890, he was elected to represent Euboea. 2009 Greek Legislative Election
Early parliamentary elections were held in Greece on 4 October 2009. Elections were not required until September 2011, but on 2 September 2009 Prime Minister Kostas Karamanlis of New Democracy announced that he would request President Karolos Papoulias dissolve Parliament and call elections. Parliament was dissolved on 9 September. The result was a victory for the opposition PASOK party led by George Papandreou, who became the new Prime Minister. New Democracy lost 61 of its 152 seats, with its vote share dropping by over 8 percentage points. Voting was mandatory; however there are no sanctions or penalties for not voting. 2007 Greek Legislative Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Greece on Sunday, 16 September 2007 to elect the 300 members of the Hellenic Parliament. The leading party for a second term was New Democracy under the leadership of Kostas Karamanlis with 42%, followed by George Papandreou and PASOK with 38%. New Democracy managed to secure an absolute but narrow majority of 152 out of 300 seats in parliament. The populist Popular Orthodox Rally entered the parliament for the first time with 10 seats, while the parties of the left, the Communist Party of Greece (KKE) and Syriza, enjoyed a significant increase in their vote share.
