A spray is a dynamic collection of drops dispersed in a gas. The process of forming a spray is known as atomization. A spray nozzle is the device used to generate a spray. The two main uses of sprays are to distribute material over a cross-section and to generate liquid surface area. There are thousands of applications in which sprays allow material to be used most efficiently. The spray characteristics required must be understood in order to select the most appropriate technology, optimal device and size. Formation Spray atomization can be formed by several methods. Pepper spray, oleoresin capsicum spray, OC spray, capsaicin spray, mace, or capsicum spray is a Tear gas, lachrymator (tear gas) product containing as its active ingredient the chemical compound capsaicin, which irritates the eyes with burning and pain sensations and so causes them to close, bringing temporary blindness. ''Spray'' was the sailboat used by 19th-century Canadian-American seaman and author Joshua Slocum during the first solo circumnavigation of the Earth. Slocum departed Boston Harbor in the 36-foot-9-inch (11.20 m) vessel on April 24, 1895 and returned to Newport, Rhode Island on June 27, 1898, becoming the first person known to have sailed around the world alone. USS ''Spray'' (ID-2491) was a United States Navy trawler which served as a minesweeper and was in commission from 1918 to 1919. ''Spray'' was built as a civilian fishing trawler in 1905 by the Fore River Shipbuilding Company at Quincy, Massachusetts. In 1917, the Russian Empire purchased ''Spray'' and the trawlers ''Foam'' and ''Ripple'' from the Bay State Fishing Company of Boston, Massachusetts, intending to place them in Imperial Russian Navy service during World War I, but the outbreak of the Russian Revolution that year prevented the three ships from leaving the United States. Ruth Hinshaw Spray
Ruth Hinshaw Spray (February 16, 1848 – February 26, 1929) was an American peace activist. Spray was prominent as a teacher in the public schools and work for the protection of children and animals. She was also active in the work of child labor organizations and in the international peace cause, Woman's Christian Temperance Union (WCTU), Retail Clerks' Association, and other associations for public welfare. Early life and education Ruth Hinshaw was born in Mooresville, Indiana, February 16, 1848. Her parents were Benjamin and Nancy (Carter) Hinshaw. Spray is a synth-pop duo from Preston, Lancashire, England, consisting of siblings Jenny McLaren and Ricardo Autobahn. Following the demise of their previous band, the Cuban Boys (famous for their Hampster Dance record and John Peel sessions), McLaren and Autobahn released the album ''Living In Neon'' on Ninthwave Records in the United States. This was followed in 2003 by the extended single "I Am Gothic".
