A leisure centre, sports centre, or recreation centre is a purpose-built building or site, usually owned and provided by the local government authority, where people can engage in a variety of sports and exercise, and keep fit. Typical facilities Facilities typically include a swimming pool, a large sports hall, and a gym, and may include: aerobics studios, an indoor cycling studio, squash courts, a cafeteria, a licensed bar, outdoor grass and/or artificial pitches for football (soccer), hockey etc., a solarium, sauna and/or steam room. Some of its functions may overlap with that of a community centre. Splashpoint Leisure Centre
Splashpoint Leisure Centre is a leisure centre located in the centre of Worthing, West Sussex, England. It contains a 25-metre long pool and gymnasium. Designed by WilkinsonEyre it won an award at the World Architecture Festival in 2013. WilkinsonEyre won an architectural design competition held by the Royal Institute of British Architects, which attracted 109 expressions of interest. It was opened by Paralympian swimmer Ellie Simmonds on 20 June 2013. Location Splashpoint Leisure Centre lies between Brighton Road to the north and the town's beach and promenade to the south. K2 is a sports and leisure facility covering just over in Pease Pottage Hill Crawley, UK. Development The building belongs to Crawley Borough Council and was completed in 2005 for £25.76m. It replaced Crawley leisure centre (built in 1964) the same year, which was sold for £32m in order to fund K2 (Crawley also received £5m through land swaps with the county council). Deeside Leisure Centre is a sports centre located in Queensferry, Flintshire. Its facilities include Deeside Ice Rink (an Olympic-sized inline hockey rink), badminton courts, and squash courts.
