Sportivo Buenos Aires
Club Sportivo Buenos Aires is a defunct Argentine football club from the city of Buenos Aires that played in Primera División during the 1920s. History The club was founded on 1 February 1918, when clubs Buenos Aires Isla Maciel and Sportivo Argentino merged. The Sportivo Argentino had been founded in 1915 by former players of Boca Juniors' youth and senior players separated from the club due to problems with its managers. The first name chosen for the club was "Petrolero" ("Oiler" in Spanish) but it was rejected by the Argentine Football Association so they changed to "Sportivo Argentino". Sportivo Buenos Aires affiliated to the Association in 1918 playing at the second division (then named "División Intermedia") until 1920 when the team promoted to Primera División to play at the "Asociación Amateur de Football" (AAF), the amateur league. Floresta, Buenos Aires
Floresta is a neighbourhood located to the west of Buenos Aires. The district developed and was named after Buenos Aires Western Railway's first terminal station's area called ''La Floresta'', in 1857. Avellaneda Park, the neighborhood's most important, was built in 1914 on grounds that once belonged to a monastery. An early Italian immigrant to Argentina, Felix Barabino, built his home in Floresta and boasted the neighborhood's most imposing residence at the time. Today, it is home to the Floresta Cultural and Historical Society, which maintains a valuable library there. Sports The district is home to All Boys football club who play at Estadio Islas Malvinas. Avellaneda Partido
Avellaneda is a partido in Buenos Aires Province, Argentina. It has an area of and a population of 663,953 in 2001. Its administrative seat is the city of Avellaneda. The partido is located in the Greater Buenos Aires urban area, separated from the city of Buenos Aires by the Matanza River, popularly known as ''Riachuelo''. The Bartolomé Mitre is the main avenue of the district, connecting with the main federal city through two bridges, the Pueyrredón Bridge to Barracas and the New Pueyrredón Bridge, directly to the 9 de Julio Avenue. 1930 World Cup
The 1930 FIFA World Cup was the inaugural FIFA World Cup, the world championship for men's national football teams. It took place in Uruguay from 13 to 30 July 1930. FIFA, football's international governing body, selected Uruguay as the host nation, as the country would be celebrating the centenary of its first constitution and the Uruguay national football team had retained their football title at the 1928 Summer Olympics. All matches were played in the Uruguayan capital, Montevideo, the majority at the purpose built Estadio Centenario. Carlos Peucelle
Carlos Desiderio Peucelle (13 September 1908 – 1 April 1990) was an Argentine football player who played as an inside forward or as a right winger and is considered one of Argentina's finest wingers in their history. He is also known for being the catalyst for starting "La Máquina" with River Plate who went on to dominate football in South America in the 1940s. Playing career Peucelle played first team football for San Telmo and Sportivo Buenos Aires before joining Argentine giants River Plate for a fee of 10,000 pesos. Núñez, Buenos Aires
Núñez is a ''barrio'' or neighbourhood of Buenos Aires, Argentina. It is on the northern edge of the city on the banks of the Rio de la Plata. The ''barrio'' of Belgrano is to the southeast; Saavedra and Coghlan are to the west; and Vicente López, in Buenos Aires Province, is to the north. The ''barrio'' has an area of 3.9 km2 and a population of over 50,000. La Boca
