FC Iserlohn 46/49 is a German association football club from the city of Iserlohn, North Rhine-Westphalia, formed in 2012 from the merger of ''SF Oestrich-Iserlohn'' founded in 1949 and ''TuS Iserlohn'' which was established in 1846 as a gymnastics club and did not have a football section until 1947. History Among the club's predecessor side was ''Oestricher Fußballclub'' which was formed in 1911 and later merged with the football department of ''Turnverein Oestrich von 1881''. Like other German organizations, including sports and football associations, the club was dissolved by occupying Allied authorities after World War II. It was re-established as ''Fußballverein Sportfreunde Oestrich'' on 10 September 1949 and in 1975 adopted its current name. Until the mid-1970s the team played in the city and district circuits until earning promotion to the Landesliga Westfalen in 1975. The Westfalenliga (''formerly the '') is the second highest amateur football league in the region of Westphalia which is part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia and the sixth tier of the German football league system. It operates in two groups which run parallel below the Oberliga Westfalen. Until the introduction of the 3. Oestrich-Winkel () is a town with roughly 12,000 inhabitants in the Rheingau-Taunus-Kreis in the ''Regierungsbezirk'' of Darmstadt in Hesse, Germany. Geography Location Oestrich-Winkel, which culturally belongs to the Rheingau region, lies on the Rhine River, 19 km west-southwest of Wiesbaden and 17 km west of Mainz. Iserlohn (; Westphalian language, Westphalian: ''Iserlaun'') is a city in the Märkischer Kreis district, in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It is the largest city by population and area within the district and the Sauerland region. Oberliga Westfalen
The Oberliga Westfalen is the highest level football league in the region of Westphalia, which is part of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The league existed from 1978 to 2008, but was then replaced by the NRW-Liga, a new statewide league. With the reform of the league system in 2012, which reduced the Regionalliga West to clubs from North Rhine-Westphalia only and disbanded the NRW-Liga below it, the Oberliga Westfalen was reintroduced as the highest tier in the region and the fifth level overall in Germany. DSC Wanne-Eickel
DSC Wanne-Eickel is a German association football club that plays in Herne, North Rhine-Westphalia. History The club was founded in 1954 as ''TB Eickel'' when it left Sportfreunde Wanne-Eickel, a short-lived union it had formed with ''SV Preußen 04 Wanne'', in 1950. It took on the name ''DSC Wanne-Eickel'' in 1969. In addition to a football team the club has departments for judo, model airplane flying, bowling, handball, watersports and physical fitness. A third division side since 1960, it earned promotion to the 2. Bundesliga Nord late in the 1970s and played the 1978 and 1979 seasons there. The club voluntarily bowed out in spite of 11th and 13th-place finishes well clear of the relegation zone in the face of dismal attendance and an increasingly untenable financial situation.
