Sport-Union Neckarsulm
Neckarsulmer SU is a German sports club from the town of Neckarsulm, Baden-Württemberg. The football club's greatest success has been promotion to the tier five Oberliga Baden-Württemberg in 2016 and participation in the first round of the 2013–14 DFB-Pokal. The club also has, among many others, a rugby union department, with the team playing in the 2. Rugby-Bundesliga since 2012. The women's handball team played in the Handball-Bundesliga (women), Bundesliga. Football History The origins of the club date back to 1908 when two football clubs were formed in Neckarsulm, Phoenix 08 and 1. FC Neckarsulm. Promotion and relegation is used by sports leagues as a process where teams can move up and down among divisions in a league system, based on their performance over a season. The Bitburger-wfv-Pokal is one of the 21 regional cup competitions of German football. The winner of the competition gains entry to the first round of the German Cup. It was introduced in 1945. In 2011 the cup was renamed from WFV-Pokal into Bitburger-wfv-Pokal because of a new name sponsoring by the brewery Bitburger. The Verbandsliga Württemberg is a German amateur football division administered by the Württemberg Football Association, one of the 21 German state football associations. Being the top flight of the Württemberg state association, the Verbandsliga is currently a level 6 division of the German football league system.
