SpoGomi
, , abbreviated to SpoGomi, is a sport invented in Japan in which teams collect garbage and litter with in a time limit and specified area. Invented in 2008, the first SpoGomi World Cup was held in Japan in November 2023; it was won by Great Britain. Rules SpoGomi involves teams of three players collecting items of rubbish within a designated playing area. The teams have one hour to pick up any rubbish found in the area, and 20 minutes to correctly sort the rubbish. Teammates cannot be more than 10 metres apart from each other, and are not allowed to run. Points are rewarded for both the amount of waste collected by the teams, and what kind of waste is collected. For example, cigarette butts are the highest-scoring items. Hyper Japan
HYPER JAPAN is the largest exhibition celebrating Japanese culture to be held in the UK. Organized by Cross Media Ltd., it was first held in London 2010 and since 2014 has taken place twice a year, in July and November. It takes place in Olympia, London Overview Centred on Japanese cuisine and popular culture such as gaming, manga, anime and music, the event introduces a wide range of Japanese culture, encompassing technology, fashion, traditional crafts. TrashTag is an internet challenge and hashtag campaign where people clean up a heavily littered area, posting before and after photos with the hashtag #trashtag. Examples and initiatives Steven Reinhold started the TrashTag Challenge in 2015 after accidentally littering on a road trip. He vowed to gather 100 pieces of trash. "On this road trip, we went to all these different national parks and we were basically geotagging the trash as we picked it up," Reinhold said. Plogging is a combination of jogging with picking up litter (merging the Swedish verbs (pick up) and (jog) gives the new Swedish verb , from which the word plogging derives). It started as an organized activity in Sweden around 2016 and spread to other countries in 2018, following increased concern about plastic pollution. As a workout, it provides variation in body movements by adding bending, squatting and stretching to the main action of running, hiking, or walking. An estimated 2,000,000 people plog daily in 100 countries and some plogging events have attracted over 3,000,000 participants.
