Splash (website)
Splash is an online event management service. The service allows users to plan, promote, execute, and measure the success of their events, with a focus on streamlining event marketing execution. Powered by One Clipboard, Splash launched in February 2012 in New York City by co-founders Ben Hindman and Brett Boskoff. Splash entered into the ticketing market in January 2013. In 2013, Splash facilitated 200 South by Southwest events, the Google Glass Tour and Vevo's Halloween Costume Party. South By Southwest
South by Southwest, abbreviated as SXSW and colloquially referred to as South By, is an annual conglomeration of parallel film, interactive media, and music festivals and conferences organized jointly that take place in mid-March in Austin, Texas, United States. It began in 1987 and has continued to grow in both scope and size every year. In 2017, the conference lasted for 10 days with the interactive track lasting for five days, music for seven days, and film for nine days. There was no in-person event in 2020 and 2021 as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic in Austin, Texas; both years, there was a smaller online event instead. Google Glass, or simply Glass, is a brand of smart glasses developed and sold by Google. It was developed by X (previously Google X), with the mission of producing an ubiquitous computer. Google Glass displays information to the wearer using a head-up display. Wearers communicate with the Internet via natural language voice commands. David Karp
David Karp (born July 6, 1986) is an American webmaster, entrepreneur, and blogger, best known as the founder and former CEO of the short-form blogging platform Tumblr. Karp began his career, without having received a high school diploma, as an intern under Fred Seibert at the animation company Frederator Studios, where he built the studio's first blogging platform and conceived, wrote, and edited their first internet video network, Channel Frederator. Karp went on to work for online parenting forum UrbanBaby until it was sold to CNET in 2006. Vine was an American short-form video hosting service where users could share six-second-long looping video clips. It was originally launched on January 24, 2013 by Vine Labs, Inc., bought by Twitter the year before; the service was shut down in October 2016 and the app was discontinued a few months later. Videos published on Vine's social network could also be shared on different social networking platforms such as Facebook and Twitter. The Vine app was also used to browse videos, along with a group of videos that were uploaded by theme, and hoping that users could "trend" videos.
