''Spettacolo'' is a 2017 documentary film about a small hilltown in Italy that practices a unique form of theatre called "autodrama". It is the second feature of '' Marwencol'' filmmakers Jeff Malmberg and Chris Shellen. The title is an Italian word meaning "performance, spectacle, or play" and in Italian is pronounced ("spet-TAH-kō-lō"). Daniele Marchitelli (born 12 January 1955), best known as Lele Marchitelli, is an Italian musician and composer. Pienza () is a town and ''comune'' in the province of Siena, Tuscany, in the historical region of Val d'Orcia. ''Marwencol'' (also known as ''Village of the Dolls'' in the UK) is a 2010 American documentary film that explores the life and work of artist and photographer Mark Hogancamp. It is the debut feature of director Jeff Malmberg. It was the inspiration for ''Welcome to Marwen'', a 2018 drama directed by Robert Zemeckis. Synopsis On April 8, 2000, Mark Hogancamp was attacked outside of a bar by five men who beat him nearly to death after he drunkenly told them he was a cross-dresser. After nine days in a coma and 40 days in the hospital, Hogancamp was discharged with brain damage that left him little memory of his previous life.
