Spencer Macky
Eric Spencer Macky, also known simply as Spencer Macky (1880–1958) was a New Zealand-born American painter, Intaglio (printmaking), intaglio printmaker, academic administrator, and educator. He was president of the California College of Arts and Crafts (now the California College of the Arts), from 1944 until 1954. He also founded the Spencer Macky Art School in San Francisco, from 1916 until 1917. He was also known for his landscape paintings and scenes of San Francisco. Ponsonby () is an inner-city suburb of Auckland located 2 km west of the Auckland CBD. The suburb is oriented along a ridge running north–south, which is followed by the main street of the suburb, Ponsonby Road. San Francisco Art Institute
San Francisco Art Institute (SFAI) was a Private college, private art school, college of contemporary art in San Francisco, California. Founded in 1871, SFAI was one of the oldest art schools in the United States and the oldest west of the Mississippi River. Approximately 220 undergraduates and 112 graduate students were enrolled in 2021. The institution was accredited by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges (WASC) and the National Association of Schools of Art and Design (NASAD), and was a member of the Association of Independent Colleges of Art and Design (AICAD). Ruth Cravath
Ruth Wakefield Cravath (1902–1986) was an American stonework artist and arts educator, specifically known for her public sculptures, busts and bas-reliefs in the San Francisco Bay Area. Biography Ruth Barrows Cravath was born in Chicago, Illinois, on January 23, 1902 to Ruth Myra Rew and James Raney Cravath. In high school Cravath attended summer art classes at the Art Institute of Chicago. Cravath attended college at Grinnell College in Iowa for one year before moving to California in 1921 to join her family. She attended California School of Fine Arts in San Francisco and studied with Beniamino Bufano and Ralph Stackpole. She learned "cut direct" sculpting techniques from Stackpole. Auckland Art Gallery Toi o Tāmaki is the principal public gallery in Auckland, New Zealand. Constance Jenkins Macky (née Constance Lillian Jenkins; 1883–1961) was an Australian-born American artist and teacher. She was known for her portraits, landscape paintings, and still life paintings. Biography Constance Lillian Jenkins was born June 29, 1883, in Melbourne, Victoria (Australia), Victoria, Australia. Her parents were Emma Wright and John S. Jenkins, her father was of Scottish descent. She was the youngest of six children, and began to study art seriously at age 15. Florence Lundborg
Florence Lundborg (1871 – January 18, 1949) was an American illustrator, poster artist, and painter known for her book illustrations and wartime paintings. She was a member, with Gelett Burgess, of the San Francisco group "Les Jeunes", who published '' The Lark'' in the 1890s; Lundborg designed some of the covers. Lundborg spent the winter of 1899-1900 studying in Paris with James Abbott McNeill Whistler. She had previously studied in San Francisco with Arthur Mathews at the California School of Design. She was a co-founder and early member of the Book Club of California. Her murals were in the Tea Room of the California Building at the Panama Pacific International Exposition. Leo Lentelli
Leo Lentelli (20 October 1879 – 31 December 1961) was an Italian sculptor who immigrated to the United States. During his 52 years in the United States he created works throughout the country, notably in New York and San Francisco. He also taught sculpture. History Born in Bologna, Italy, on October 29, 1879, Leo Lentelli studied in Bologna and Rome and worked as a sculptor in his native land. Immigrating to the United States in 1903 at the age of 24, Lentelli initially assisted in the studios of several established sculptors. In 1911 he entered the Architectural League exhibition and won the Avery Prize. The following year he became a naturalized citizen of the United States.
