Spencer Jones (pitcher)
Spencer Jones (born September 22, 1994) is an American former professional baseball pitcher. Early life Jones went to Edward C. Reed High School in Sparks, Nevada, graduating in 2012. He began his college baseball career at Mendocino College. After two years, he transferred to the University of Washington to play for the Washington Huskies for two more seasons. Career Tampa Bay Rays The Tampa Bay Rays selected Jones in the 10th round, with the 300th selection, of the 2016 MLB draft. He received a $10,000 signing bonus, despite the $156,000 slot value for the pick, and made his professional debut with the Hudson Valley Renegades. In 2017, Jones made 36 appearances split between the Single-A Bowling Green Hot Rods and High-A Charlotte Stone Crabs, posting a combined 2.25 ERA with 74 strikeouts and 5 saves in 68.0 innings pitched. The Acereros de Monclova (English: Monclova Steelers) are a professional baseball team in the Mexican League based in Monclova, Coahuila, Mexico. Their home ballpark is Estadio de Béisbol Monclova, which has a capacity of 11,000 people. The Acereros replaced the Mineros de Coahuila in the 1976 season. The 2019 WBSC Premier12 was an international baseball championship featuring the 12 highest-ranked national teams in the world, held by the World Baseball Softball Confederation (WBSC). It was the second WBSC Premier12 event. The championship was held from November 2 to 17, 2019, in Mexico, South Korea, Taiwan, and Japan. The tournament served as a qualifier for baseball at the 2020 Summer Olympics. Two quota spots were allocated, with Team Mexico as the top finisher from the Americas earning one spot, and Team South Korea as the top-finishing team from the Asia/Oceania region (excluding Team Japan, which already qualified as host) earning the other.
