Markéta Stadium
The Markéta Stadium () is a 10,000-capacity multi-use stadium on U Vojtěšky in Břevnov, Prague, Czech Republic. The stadium hosts motorcycle speedway and has been the home of the Speedway Grand Prix of Czech Republic since 1997. The speedway track has a circumference of 353 metres (386 yards). The stadium opened during the 1930s as an athletics ground and is home to the athletics club PSK Olymp Praha (athletics), PSK Olymp Praha and the Prague speedway team AK Markéta Praha. Since 1959, it has been hosting international speedway events and on an annual basis it also holds the Luboš Tomíček Memorial, named after the rider Luboš Tomíček Sr. In 2022, the stadium was selected as the first ever venue for 2022 SGP2. Emil Damirovich Sayfutdinov (; born 26 October 1989) is a motorcycle speedway rider from Russia. He is a member of the Russia national speedway team. He is a three times World team champion, twice World Junior champion and a two-time winner of the European Championships in 2014 and 2015. Career history Sayfutdinov gained his speedway licence in 2005, just before his 16th birthday. He started his career in the Russian league with Mega-Lada Togliatti and won the Russian Champion title. He averaged 2.271 (15th place in league), won the Russian Pairs Championship and won the Individual under-21 Russian Championship and was 6th in the Russian Senior Championship. In international competitions he started in the Individual U-19 European Championship and won qualification to the final but was too young to take part. Martin Vaculík (born 5 April 1990) is a Slovak motorcycle speedway rider. Career On the 6 May 2008, Vaculík gained a Polish speedway licence (''Licencja "Ż"'') at Toruń. and from 4 June 2008 he has taken part in the Polish Championships as a Polish domestic rider. In 2012, Vaculik won his first ever Grand Prix as part of the 2012 World Championship, he won the 2012 Speedway Grand Prix of Poland in Gorzów. The following year he won the 2013 Speedway European Championship. After missing the World Championship from 2014 until 2016 he returned in 2017 and won the 2017 Speedway Grand Prix of Slovenia. Artem Grigoryevich Laguta (; born 13 November 1990) is a Russian motorcycle speedway rider and member of the Russian national team. He is the 2021 World Champion. Career details Laguta became the Russian champion in 2010 and 2011. In August 2010, during the Speedway Grand Prix Qualification he won the GP Challenge, which ensured that he claimed a permanent slot for the 2011 Grand Prix. He is also a three times world team champion with Russia after partnering Emil Sayfutdinov during three consecutive years, as Russia won the Speedway of Nations in 2018, 2019 and 2020. Janusz Kołodziej (born 27 May 1984 in Tarnów, Poland) is a Polish speedway rider who has ridden for the Polish national team and is a four times champion of Poland. Career Kołodziej rode in Britain for the Reading Racers in 2003 and from 2006 to 2007. Tai Woffinden (born 10 August 1990) is a British speedway rider. He is a three-time World Champion (2013, 2015 and 2018). Early life Woffinden was born in Scunthorpe, the son of former speedway rider Rob Woffinden. Although born in the United Kingdom and competing as a British rider, Woffinden grew up in Perth, Western Australia after his parents Rob and Sue decided to move there in 1994. Career Woffinden began his career in junior speedway in Perth where he won the 2006 Western Australian Under-16 title, though he unfortunately missed riding in the Australian Under-16 Championship in Adelaide. He started his British career with the Scunthorpe Scorpions in the Conference League in 2006. Nicki Pedersen (born 2 April 1977) is a Danish motorcycle speedway rider. He is a three time world champion having won the World Championship in 2003, 2007 and 2008. He has also won the World Cup with Denmark in 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014. Career Pedersen began speedway racing aged 11 at Danish club Fjelsted. He stayed at the club until a move to in 1998 to Holstebro, the same year that he made his British league debut with Newcastle Diamonds in the 1998 Premier League speedway season. He topped the League averages which began his journey towards the pinnacle of the sport.
