Speedfreaks
Cláudio Márcio de Souza Santos, better known by his stage name Speedfreaks or simply Speed, was a Brazilian rapper, composer, musician, and member of the Underground Hip Hop duo Black Alien & Speed. He was considered to be a pioneer in the Brazilian Underground Hip Hop genre. Like most rappers of the genre, his lyrics talked about the reality of the Brazilian streets, dealing with crime, poverty, prejudice in general, drugs and money. According to ''Isto É'' magazine, Speedfreaks created "one of the best rap records of recent times". Unfortunately, he died, murdered on March 26, 2010. Career Speedfreaks initiated his career in 1989, in the city of Niterói, in the state of Rio de Janeiro. He started performing with Rap freestyles, and at local shows usually as a featured guest. Tigrão Big Tiger
Alexandre Teixeira, also known as Tigrão Big Tiger (Born in Rio de Janeiro) is a Brazilian rapper. Throughout his career, he recorded several songs with fellow Brazilian rapper Speedfreaks. Biography In 1996, Big Tiger started out his music career when he formed his first Rap group called ''Discriminados do Rap'', in collaboration with Marcelo Texeira. While in 1998, he was invited to form the group ''Ciência Rimática'' with Facão and DJ Mohamed at ''Zueira Hip Hop''. The group lasted until 2004, at which time Tigrão Big Tiger began to attend various freestyle sessions and Hip Hop events. In 2005, he formed ''Aliança 21'' with Mahal and DJ Arra, and later DJ Erick Scratch joined them. At the time, they released an album called ''Apocalipse''. ''Black Alien & Speed'' was an independent Brazilian Hip hop duo active between 1993 and 2001. Made up of singer Black Alien and the late producer/musician/rapper Speed, they started out using the name ''Speedfreaks'' and around 1998 became ''Black Alien & Speed''. The group performed and recorded in Brazil with artists such as Afrika Bambaataa, De La Soul, Beastie Boys, Chad Smith ( Red Hot Chili Peppers), Carlos Lyra, Roberto Menescal, Nação Zumbi, Otto, Marcelo D2 and many others. Niterói (, ) is a municipality of the state of Rio de Janeiro in the southeast region of Brazil. Fernanda Abreu (born September 8, 1961) is a Brazilian singer. Biography Fernanda was born and raised in a middle-class family of the South Zone of Rio de Janeiro. Her first notable public appearance was the backing vocal of the band Blitz until 1986. After that, in 1990, she started a solo career, achieving great success in her native country. In 1989, she met Herbert Vianna, and with his help and encouragement formed a funk band. Norman Quentin Cook (born Quentin Leo Cook, 31 July 1963), also known by his stage name Fatboy Slim, is an English musician, DJ, and record producer who helped to popularise the big beat genre in the 1990s. In the 1980s, Cook was the bassist for the Hull-based indie rock band the Housemartins, who achieved a UK number-one single with their a cappella cover of "Caravan of Love". Lance Taylor (born on April 17, 1957), also known as Afrika Bambaataa (), is an American DJ, rapper, and producer from the South Bronx, New York. He is notable for releasing a series of genre-defining electro tracks in the 1980s that influenced the development of hip hop culture. Afrika Bambaataa is one of the originators of breakbeat DJing. Herbert Vianna
Herbert Lemos de Sousa Vianna (born May 4, 1961) is a Brazilian singer, songwriter, guitarist and record producer mainly known for his work with rock band Os Paralamas do Sucesso. Biography Herbert was born in João Pessoa, Paraíba. His father was from the military and, because of that, he moved to Brasília when he was still a child. There he met band member Bi Ribeiro. When they moved to Rio de Janeiro, they formed Os Paralamas do Sucesso (some still consider them part of the "Brasília gang", along with Capital Inicial and Legião Urbana) with their friend Vital Dias playing drums.
