Special Operations Regiment
The 21st Special Service Group (Abbr.: 21 SSG, ), also known as the 21st Special Forces Group, serves as the command for the Malaysian Army's special forces, the '' Gerak Khas''. Since 1985, 21 SSG has also been considered the 21st combat brigade within the Malaysian Army, which is reflected in its designation. Operating independently under the Malaysian Army, the unit reports directly to the Chief of Army. The headquarters of the 21 SSG are located at Sri Iskandar Camp in Mersing, Johor. On 10 May 2024, Major General Ahmad Shuhaimi Mat Wajab has assumed command of the 21 SSG, succeeding Major General Mohd Adi Ridzwan. Sauk Siege
The Sauk Siege () was a military standoff that happened on 3-5 July 2000. It was an attempted coup d'état against the Yang di-Pertuan Agong and Malaysian Government by Al-Ma'unah led by Muhammad Amin Mohamed Razali. The group was made famous by their audacious raid on 2 July 2000 on a camp of Rejimen Askar Wataniah, Malaysian Army Reserve in the early hours of the morning and stealing weapons from the armoury. The group was later cornered in the village of Sauk, Malaysia, Sauk, Kuala Kangsar, Perak and was involved in a stand-off the against the Malaysian Army and Royal Malaysian Police forces. Ibrahim ibni Iskandar (; born Tunku Ibrahim Ismail ibni Tunku Mahmood Iskandar, 22 November 1958) is the King of Malaysia and the fifth Sultan of Johor, Sultan of modern Johor. Ibrahim was born during the reign of his great-grandfather, Ibrahim of Johor, Sultan Sir Ibrahim, and became heir apparent when his father, Iskandar of Johor, Sultan Iskandar, acceded to the throne of Johor in 1981. 2013 Lahad Datu Standoff
The 2013 Lahad Datu standoff, also known as the Lahad Datu incursion or Operation Daulat (), was a military conflict in Lahad Datu District, Lahad Datu, Malaysia. The conflict began on 11 February, when 235 militants arrived in Lahad Datu by boat, and ended on 24 March. The militants, self proclaimed as "Royal Security Forces of the Sultanate of Sulu and North Borneo", were sent by Jamalul Kiram III, a claimant to the throne of the Sultanate of Sulu. The militants' stated objective was to assert the North Borneo dispute, territorial claim of the Philippines to eastern Sabah. Malaysian security forces surrounded the village where the group had gathered. The cross border attacks in Sabah are a series of cross border terrorist attacks perpetrated by Moro pirates from Mindanao, Philippines, in the state of Sabah, Malaysia, that began even before the British colonial period. The International Security Assistance Force (ISAF) was a multinational military mission in Afghanistan from 2001 to 2014.
