Special Olympics Pakistan is an officially recognised program of Special Olympics International, operating as a Nonprofit organisation in Pakistan. It supports individuals with intellectual disabilities by promoting their development and inclusion through participation in sports. History Special Olympics is an international nonprofit organisation dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities to become fit, productive and respected members of the society through sports training and competition. Founded in 1968 by Eunice Kennedy Shriver, Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition to 2.5 million adults and children with intellectual disabilities across 180 countries. Special Olympics Pakistan was established 1989 with around 20 registered athletes. Pakistan At The Paralympics
The National Olympic Committee of Pakistan was created in 1948. Pakistan first participated at the Paralympic Games in 1992, and has sent athletes to compete in every Summer Paralympic Games since then. Pakistan has won four medals, one gold, one silver and two bronze medals in the Paralympic Games. All four medals have come courtesy of Haider Ali in the Men's Long Jump and Discus Throw events. Pakistan has never participated in the Winter Paralympic Games.
