SC Cambuur, also known as Cambuur Leeuwarden, or simply Cambuur, () is a Dutch professional football club from the city of Leeuwarden formed on 19 June 1964. They currently play in the Eerste Divisie, the second tier of Dutch football, following relegation from the Eredivisie in the 2022–23 season. The home ground of the club is the 15,000-capacity Kooi Stadion, which opened in 2024. The club usually plays in yellow shirts and blue shorts. The origin of the club's emblem is the coat of arms of the House of Cammingha, a Frisian noble family. Their main rivals are SC Heerenveen. History Founded in 1964, SC Cambuur has spent a total of nine seasons in the Dutch top flight, the Eredivisie. The 2013–14 Eredivisie was the 58th season of Eredivisie since its establishment in 1955. Maikel Kieftenbeld (; born 26 June 1990) is a Dutch professional association football, footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for Dutch club SC Cambuur, Cambuur. Kieftenbeld began his football career with his hometown club, VV Lemelerveld, before joining FC Twente, Twente's youth system as a young teenager. Twente let him leave for Eerste Divisie (second-tier) club Go Ahead Eagles in 2007, and a year later, he made his senior debut and signed his first professional contract. Remco Balk (born 2 March 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a winger for club Cambuur. Club career Groningen Balk was born in Zuidhorn, Province of Groningen where he started playing football for local side VV Zuidhorn before joining FC Groningen's academy in 2012. In 2018, he signed a professional contract with the club, keeping him part of Groningen until 2021. Jeremy van Mullem (born 18 March 1999) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a defensive midfielder for club Cambuur. Career Early years Van Mullem began his youth career at VV Zwaluwen and later moved to Feyenoord's academy, where he signed his first professional contract in 2018. After one season with Jong Feyenoord, his contract expired in 2019, and he left on a free transfer to SSV Jeddeloh in Germany, competing in Regionalliga Nord. He made his debut for Jeddeloh on 21 July 2019, in a 1–1 draw at home against VfB Oldenburg in the Lower Saxony Cup. Thomas Poll (born 28 August 2001) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays for as a left-back for club Cambuur. Career Groningen Born in Amsterdam, Poll moved with his family to Wehe-den Hoorn, Province of Groningen when he was 8 years old. Floris Smand (born 20 January 2003) is a Dutch professional footballer who plays as a centre-back. Career Smand grew up in the town of Lemmer, in the province of Friesland. Ultras
Ultras are a type of association football fans who are known for their fanatical support. The term originated in Italy, but is used worldwide to describe predominantly organised fans of association football teams. The behavioural tendency of ultras groups includes singing football chants, playing musical instruments such as drums, their use of flares and smoke bombs (primarily in ''tifo'' choreography), frequent use of elaborate displays, vocal support in large groups and the displaying of flags and banners at football stadiums, all of which are designed to create an atmosphere which encourages their own team and intimidates the opposing players and their supporters.
