Spank (single)
"Spank" is a single by London glam rock band, Rachel Stamp. This single was the first release via the Cruisin' Records label, an independent record label set up by the band's manager, Sil Wilcox, and distributed across the UK by Pinnacle. There was no promotional video made to promote this release; however, a live video of "Spank" (directed by Corin Hardy and filmed at the band's Hallowe'en show at the London Astoria in 2000) later appeared as a bonus multimedia track on the "Black Cherry" CD single (released in 2002). Rachel Stamp are an United Kingdom, English rock band formed in London in 1994. Their debut album, ''Hymns For Strange Children'', was released in 2000, followed by ''Oceans of Venus'' two years later. History Rachel Stamp were formed in 1994 when David Ryder Prangley met Will Crewdson before recruiting Cliff Harris and Mike Rowe. The band signed to Warner Music Group, WEA Records, but were dropped without releasing the album they had recorded after Clive Black, who had signed the band, left the label. Harris and Rowe left soon after before Crewdson and Ryder Prangley recruited drummer Robin Guy and released several E.P.s through their own label 'Bitch Vinyl'. The band built up a considerable live following and received favourable coverage from magazines such as Kerrang!, Melody Maker and Metal Hammer. They appeared in the film 'G.M.T. Therapy?
Therapy? are a Northern Irish rock band from Larne, formed in 1989 by guitarist-vocalist Andy Cairns and drummer-vocalist Fyfe Ewing. Therapy? recorded their first demo with Cairns filling in on bass guitar. To complete the lineup, the band recruited Larne bassist Michael McKeegan. The band signed with major label A&M Records in 1992, for which they released four albums, most notably ''Troublegum'' in 1994 and '' Infernal Love'' in 1995. Ewing's departure in early 1996 preceded the arrivals of his replacement Graham Hopkins, and Martin McCarrick on cello and guitar. Neil Cooper replaced Hopkins on drums in 2002. Following the departure of McCarrick in 2004, the band have remained a stable three-piece since. Therapy? are currently signed to UK independent label Marshall Records. Chrome Hoof are an experimental chamber rock orchestra based in London, England. The group was formed in 2000 by Cathedral bassist Leo Smee and his brother Milo Smee. Buzzcocks
Buzzcocks are an English punk rock band formed in Bolton, England in 1976 by singer-songwriter-guitarist Pete Shelley and singer-songwriter Howard Devoto. They are regarded as a seminal influence on the Manchester music scene, the independent record label movement, punk rock, power pop, and pop punk. They achieved commercial success with singles that fused pop craftsmanship with rapid-fire punk energy. These singles were collected on '' Singles Going Steady'', an acclaimed compilation album described by music journalist and critic, Ned Raggett, as a "punk masterpiece". Ministry is an American industrial metal band founded in Chicago, Illinois in 1981 by producer, singer, and instrumentalist Al Jourgensen. Katharine Blake (singer)
Katharine Blake (born 1970) is a British singer, songwriter and musician, originally from London. She was the lead singer of gothic rock band Miranda Sex Garden, and is a founding member, singer, and musical director of the musical group Mediæval Bæbes. She was married to Nick Marsh, the lead singer of rock band Flesh for Lulu, until his death in 2015. Their first child was born in February 2007. Their second daughter was born in 2009. In 2006 ''Stories From the Moon'', an ethereal collaborative concept album, was released. It included contributions from Katharine Blake. In 2015, Katharine Blake and Nick Marsh's collaborative self-titled album ''From The Deep'' was released on Bellissima Records. London Astoria
The London Astoria was a music venue at 157 Charing Cross Road, in London, England. Originally a warehouse during the 1920s, the building became a cinema and ballroom. It was converted for use as a theatre in the 1970s. After further development, the building re-opened in the mid-1980s, as a night club and live music venue for well-known musical acts. There are half a dozen clubs and smaller music venues in the adjacent buildings. In 2009 the venue closed, and was demolished as part of the development plans of the Crossrail project. The venue is still seen today as having been an iconic music establishment, as it helped to launch the careers of many British rock bands and also played a part in the UK success of many international acts.
