Spanish National Union
The Spanish National Union (Spanish: ''Unión Nacional Española'', UNE) was a conservative and traditionalist political party in Spain. History The UNE was born in 1975 as a "political association". Among its leaders there were members and ex-members of the Carlist movement that recognized Juan Carlos I as prince and successor to Francisco Franco, and as the future king of Spain. Among them Antonio María de Oriol, Juan María de Araluce Villar, José Luis Zamanillo and José María Valiente Soriano. Its president was the former Francisco Franco minister Gonzalo Fernández de la Mora and one of its vicepresidents the diplomat José María Velo de Antelo. Gonzalo Fernández De La Mora
Gonzalo Fernández de la Mora y Mon (Barcelona, 1924 – Madrid, 2002) was a Spanish essayist and politician who represented Pontevedra in Congress for the Popular Alliance from 1977 to 1979. He was married to Isabel Valera Una, and had four children with her: Isabel, Gonzalo, Juan Luis and Sandra. Biography When he was two years old, his family moved to Madrid, and Gonzalo Fernandez de la Mora later began studying for his Baccalaureate at Colegio de Pilar. He lived in Galicia for a short period of time (in Mondariz, Guitiriz and Vigo). The civil war broke out in Galicia while he was on holiday so he was forced to stay there and complete his Baccalaureate with the Jesuits of the Colegio de Santiago Apostol. His father was a colonel in the judicial army under Alfonso XIII. His mother, of royal heritage, was descended from a minister of Isabel II. Carlism (; ; ; ) is a Traditionalist and Legitimist political movement in Spain aimed at establishing an alternative branch of the Bourbon dynasty, one descended from Don Carlos, Count of Molina (1788–1855), on the Spanish throne. José María Valiente Soriano (1900-1982) was a Spanish politician. He commenced his career in Popular Action (Spain), Acción Nacional and gained recognition as leader of Juventudes de Acción Popular, the youth branch of CEDA. In 1935 he joined Carlism; his political climax fell on the period of 1955-1967, when he was leading the mainstream Traditionalism (Spain), Traditionalist organisation. After 1971 he unsuccessfully engaged in buildup of conservative monarchist groupings. He served in the Second Spanish Republic, Republican parliament during two terms between 1933 and 1936; between 1967 and 1977 during two terms he held a mandate in the Francoism, Francoist Cortes Españolas, Cortes.
