Spain In The Eurovision Song Contest 2001
Spain was represented at the Eurovision Song Contest 2001 with the song "" written by Alejandro Abad and performed by David Civera. The Spanish participating broadcaster, (TVE), organised the national final ''2001'' in order to select its entry for the contest. Twenty artists and songs competed in the televised show where an in-studio jury and a public televote selected "" performed by David Civera as the winner. Songwriter Alejandro Abad represented Spain in the Eurovision Song Contest 1994. As a member of the "Big Four (Eurovision), Big Four", Spain automatically qualified to compete in the Eurovision Song Contest. Performing in position 13, it placed sixth out of the 23 participating countries with 76 points. Beatriz Teresa Missiego Campos (born 16 January 1938 in Lima, Peru) better known as Betty Missiego () is a Peruvian singer, who has held dual Spanish citizenship since 1972 and lives in Spain. Locomía
Locomía (also known as Loco Mía) was a Spanish pop group popular in the late 1980s and 1990s. They combined elements of tropical with British music of the new wave and New Romantics. Their first hit was the eponymous song "Locomia". The original members were Xavier Font, Manuel Arjona, Gard Passchier, and Luis Font. In 1982, the latter two were replaced by Juan Antonio Fuentes (later replaced by Santos Blanco) and Carlos Armas, and later Francesc Picas replaced Xavier Font. La Década Prodigiosa
La Década Prodigiosa (; "The Prodigious Decade"), also known as just La Década, is a Spanish music group formed in the mid-eighties that participated in the Eurovision Song Contest 1988. La Década Prodigiosa came up in 1985 as a project directed by Javier de Juan (drums), Manel Santisteban (piano) and Manuel Aguilar (bass) to produce an album of medleys of popular Spanish songs from the sixties. José Luis Uribarri Grenouillou (9 August 1936 – 23 July 2012) was a Spanish television presenter and director for TVE. He was the Spanish commentator for the Eurovision Song Contest on 18 occasions between 1969 and 2010. He was widely known as ''La voz de Eurovisión'' (''The Voice of Eurovision'') in Spain.
