Space Monster, Wangmagwi
''Space Monster Wangmagwi'' () is a 1967 South Korean ''kaiju'' film. It is the oldest surviving kaiju film to be made in South Korea, and the first all-Korean science fiction film. It was inspired by monster movies from Japan and America, such as ''Godzilla'' and ''King Kong''. Particularly, the monster kidnaps a woman in a manner which is reminiscent of King Kong. The film is about an alien monster attacking South Korea, and features several comedic vignettes, all of which take place during the monster's rampage. Plot South Korean air force pilot Oh Jeong-hwan and his betrothed, Ahn-hee, are excited for their wedding, which is to occur the next day. Won Namkung
Namkoong Won (; 1 August 1934 – 5 February 2024) was a South Korean actor. Namkoong was born Hong Gyeong-il in 1934. He was a popular actor of the 1960s along with Shin Seong-il, Shin Young-kyun and Choi Moo-ryong. His son was South Korean politician, Hong Jung-wook. Joint Security Area
The Joint Security Area (JSA, often referred to as the Truce Village or Panmunjom) is the only portion of the Korean Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) where North Korea, North and South Korean forces stand face-to-face. The JSA is used by the two Koreas for diplomatic engagements and, until March 1991, was also the site of military negotiations between North Korea and the United Nations Command (UNC). The JSA has been the site of numerous events and incidents since its establishment in 1953, the first of which was the repatriation of Prisoner of war, prisoners of war (POWs) after the cessation of hostilities, across the Bridge of No Return. In 2018, North and South Korean officials agreed to clear the JSA of all landmines, weapons and guard posts. The Korean Film Archive (KOFA; ), or the Korean Federation of Film Archives, is the sole film archive in South Korea with nationwide coverage. It was founded in Seoul in 1974 as a non-profit organization. In 1976 KOFA joined the International Federation of Film Archives (FIAF) as an observer, and gained its full membership of FIAF in 1985. KOFA's main duties are to collect, preserve and categorize films and film-related materials, as well as to foster accessibility to its collections. ''Yongary, Monster from the Deep'' (, ) is a 1967 ''kaiju'' film directed by Kim Ki-duk, with special effects by Kenichi Nakagawa. The film was a joint production between South Korean studio Keukdong (Far East) Entertainment Company and Japanese studio Toei Company. The film stars Oh Yeong-il, Kwang Ho Lee, Nam Jeong-im, with Cho Kyoung-min as Yongary. In the film, a giant reptilian monster lays waste to Seoul after being awakened by an earthquake triggered by a nuclear bomb test.
