Space Babies
"Space Babies" is the first episode of the fourteenth series of the British science fiction television programme ''Doctor Who''. It was written by Russell T Davies and directed by Julie Anne Robinson. The episode was released alongside the next episode, " The Devil's Chord", on BBC iPlayer in the United Kingdom on 11 May 2024 and in the United States on Disney+ on 10 May 2024. A broadcast on BBC One followed later in the evening on 11 May. The episode, which takes place immediately after the events of " The Church on Ruby Road", follows an alien time traveller known as the Doctor (Ncuti Gatwa) and his companion Ruby Sunday (Millie Gibson), as they travel to a space station and discover a baby farm. Together, they learn that the babies are under threat by a creature dubbed "the Bogeyman". Davies wrote "Space Babies" as a soft reboot, to serve as an introductory episode for new viewers. Mizero Ncuti Gatwa ( ; born 15 October 1992) is a Rwandan-Scottish actor. After a screen Breakthrough role, breakthrough portraying Eric Effiong in Sex Education (TV series), ''Sex Education'' (2019–2023), he rose to further prominence as the Fifteenth Doctor in ''Doctor Who'' (2023–2025). He began his career on stage at the Dundee Repertory Theatre and was nominated for an Ian Charleson Award for his performance as Mercutio in a 2014 production of ''Romeo & Juliet'' at HOME (Manchester), HOME. Early life Mizero Ncuti Gatwa was born in Nyarugenge District, Nyarugenge, Kigali, Rwanda, on 15 October 1992. His father, Tharcisse Gatwa, from Rwanda's Karongi District, is a journalist. Gatwa's family escaped from Rwanda during the Rwandan genocide, 1994 genocide against the Tutsi and settled in Scotland. They lived in Oxgangs in Edinburgh, and moved to Dunfermline when he was 15. The Church On Ruby Road
"The Church on Ruby Road" is an episode of the British Science fiction on television, science fiction television series ''Doctor Who''. The episode was broadcast on BBC One on 25 December 2023 as the fourteenth List of Doctor Who Christmas and New Year's specials, Christmas special since the show's revival in 2005. It is the first Christmas special since "Twice Upon a Time (Doctor Who), Twice Upon a Time" (2017), with the programme producing New Year's specials from 2018 to 2022.
