Southern Sidama Zone
Southern Sidama Zone (Amharic: ደቡባዊ ሲዳማ ዞን) is an administrative zone in Sidama Region. The zone was established after two years later from the establishment of the Sidama region. Southern Sidama Zone is established in August 2022 up on resolution passed by Sidama regional state council. Southern Sidama is bordered on the south by the Oromia region and Gedeo Zone, on the east by the Eastern Sidama Zone, on the north by the Northern Sidama Zone on the west by Oromia region. Aleta Wendo
Aleta Wendo (also known as Wendo) is a town in southern Ethiopia. Located in a fertile and forested area near Lake Abaya in the upper Gidabo River basin, not far from the sources of the Ganale Dorya and Dawa Rivers in the Aleta Wendo Zone of the Sidama Regional State, this town has a longitude and latitude of with an elevation of 2037 meters above sea level. Sidama Region
The Sidama Region ( Sidama: Sidaamu Qoqqowo; ) is a regional state in southern Ethiopia. It was formed on 18 June 2020 from the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region (SNNPR) and transformation of the Sidama Zone after a 98.52% vote in favour of increased autonomy in the 2019 Sidama referendum, making it the newest (and second smallest, after Harari) regional state in the country. Sidama is the name of both the Sidama people and Sidama territory. Sidama is bordered to the south by the Oromia Region (except for a short stretch in the middle where it shares a border with Gedeo zone, in SNNPR), on the west by the Bilate River, which separates it from Wolayita zone in SNNPR, and on the north and east by the Oromia Region. Gedeo Zone
Gedeo is a zone in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples' Region of Ethiopia. This zone is named for the Gedeo people, whose homelands lie in this zone. Gedeo is an exclave of the SNNPR consisting of a narrow strip of land along the eastern escarpment of the Ethiopian Highlands. It is surrounded by the Oromia Region, which borders the Zone on the east, south and west; Gedeo shares its northern boundary with the Sidama Region. Eastern Sidama Zone
Eastern Sidama is an administrative zone in Sidama Region. The zone is established up on resolution passed by Sidama regional state council at its third round meeting of the first year in 2022. Up on the establishment of the zone, the president of Sidama Region Desta Ledamo said that the name given to the zone Eastern Sidama is not intended to infer the location or direction of the zone, it also to avoid conflicts that may arise between the tribes in the region.
