Southern Early Childhood Association
Founded in 1948, the Southern Early Childhood Association (or SECA) serves as a professional organization for members of the early childhood profession in the states of Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. It is a separate and distinct organization from NAEYC with its own governing body, its own position statements, and its own scholar journal (''Dimensions of Early Childhood''). This study took place in 4 different areas, which included Michigan State University, Oregon State University, University of Michigan and the Texas Health Science Center at Houston. Early childhood education in the United States relates to the teaching of children (formally and informally) from birth up to the age of eight. The education services are delivered via preschools and kindergartens. Early childhood education policy During World War II and the industrial revolution the United States implemented a large, well-funded childcare system in order to help mothers join the workforce to support the war effort.
