Southern Discomfort Roller Derby
Southern Discomfort Roller Derby (SDRD) is a men's roller derby league based in London, England. Founded in 2010, the league consists of two teams which compete against teams from other leagues. They were members of the Men's Roller Derby Association (MRDA) until suspension in 2021, and are current members of the United Kingdom Roller Derby Association (UKRDA). League History The league was founded in November 2010, initially as a south of England representative team. After playing a single bout against the Northern England Roller Dudes (NERD), it remained inactive until August 2011, when it was resurrected on a permanent basis. In September, SDRD played a further game against the Northern England Roller Dudes, then later in the year suffered its first defeat to a mixed team of skaters from two new leagues: The Inhuman League from Sheffield, and Tyne and Fear Roller Derby from Newcastle upon Tyne. The Five Nations Roller Derby Championships is an annual competition for roller derby leagues in the United Kingdom. History The tournament originated as the End of the World Series, a 2012 league of six roller derby teams in central England. The success of this competition led it to expand in 2013 under the new name of the Heartland Series, with twelve teams in two division, and it doubled in size again in 2014. Roller Derby Toulouse is a roller derby league based in Toulouse, France. Founded in 2010, the league currently consists of two men's teams, three women's teams and one junior team. The league was founded in February 2010 by Chakk Attakk, following the release of ''Whip It!'' in France (under the title ''Bliss''). Having skating experience, she recruited the first five women through the Roulez Rose website. In mid-2010, six skaters from the league competed against Les Petits Morts de Bordeaux in the first flat track roller derby bout held in France. By November 2011, the league had 83 skaters, and had created the first men's roller derby team in France.
