Southern California Fusion
Southern California Fusion were an American soccer team, founded in 2006, which competed in the National Premier Soccer League (NPSL), the fourth tier of the American Soccer Pyramid until 2007 when, despite being the reigning NPSL champions, the franchise chose to leave the league. In 2007, the team played their home matches at Aviara Park in the city of Carlsbad, California, 35 miles north of downtown San Diego. The team's colors were black, red, white and gold. The National Premier Soccer League (NPSL) is an American men's association football, soccer league. The league is officially affiliated to the United States Adult Soccer Association (USASA) and has automatic qualification for the U.S. Open Cup. It is the successor of the Men's Premier Soccer League, a regional league originally based in the Western United States, which has now expanded nationwide to encompass teams from 29 states. The league's motto is "A National League with a Regional Focus". Competition format The National Premier Soccer League is divided into four separate regions (Northeast, South, Midwest, and West). The United States soccer league system is a series of professional and amateur association football, soccer leagues based, in whole or in part, in the United States. Although sometimes called the American soccer pyramid, teams and leagues are not linked by a system of promotion and relegation as is common in other countries.
