Southern Arts Federation
South Arts, formerly the Southern Arts Federation, headquartered in Atlanta, Georgia, is one of six not-for-profit regional arts organizations funded by the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA). South Arts create partnerships and collaborations, assists in the professional development of artists, arts organizations and arts professionals; presents, promotes and produces Southern arts and cultural programming; and advocates for the arts and arts education. The organization works in partnership with the nine state arts councils of Alabama, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. Southern Art
Art from Southern United States, or Southern art, includes Southern expressionism, folk art, and modernism. The Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans houses the largest single collection of Southern art. In 1992, the Morris Museum of Art opened to the public in Augusta, Georgia, with a focus on mid-twentieth century American Southern art. The Johnson Collection in South Carolina holds 1,200 pieces of Southern art that it exhibits, publishes in catalogs, and lends to other institutions. Rowan Nathaniel House offers a fine example of Southern art. The Kentucky Arts Council, established in 1966, is the Kentucky state arts agency, and is responsible for developing and promoting support for the arts in Kentucky.
