South Philly Jam was a professional wrestling live event produced by Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) on October 7, 1995. The event was held in the ECW Arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in the United States. Excerpts from South Philly Jam aired on episodes #129, #130, and #131 of the syndicated television show ''ECW Hardcore TV'' in October 1995. The two-out-of-three-falls match between Psicosis and Rey Misterio Jr. - which received a 4¾ star rating from the ''Wrestling Observer Newsletter'' - was featured on the 2011 compilation DVD ''Rey Mysterio: The Life of a Masked Man''. 2300 Arena is a multipurpose indoor arena in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, used primarily for professional wrestling, boxing, mixed martial arts, and concert events. The Eliminators
The Eliminators were a professional wrestling tag team which consisted of Perry Saturn and John Kronus who were best known for their time in Extreme Championship Wrestling (ECW) between 1995 and 1997. History Formation While working as the manager of a nightclub in Boston, Perry Satullo met bouncer George Caiazzo, who expressed an interest in becoming a wrestler. Satullo sent Caiazzo to Killer Kowalski's school to train, and then offered to form a tag team with him. Satullo took the name Saturn, after the Roman god of agriculture and the harvest, and Caiazzo took the name of Saturn's Greek equivalent Cronus, with the spelling slightly altered as "Kronus". Satullo proposed that the team be known as "The Harvesters of Sorrow" due to the significance of their ring names, but promoter Jerry Lawler advised Satullo that the significance would not be evident to many fans. DDT (professional Wrestling)
In professional wrestling, a DDT is any move in which the wrestler has the opponent in a Grappling hold, front facelock or inverted headlock and falls down or backwards to drive the opponent's head into the mat. The classic DDT is performed by putting the opponent in a Professional wrestling holds#Front facelock, front facelock and falling backwards so that the opponent is forced to dive forward onto their head. In professional wrestling, a pin is a move where a wrestler holds an opponent's shoulders to the mat in an attempt to score a fall. A pinfall is a common victory condition, where the attacker pins an opponent and the referee makes a three count before the opponent gets released from the pin. Background The origin of the pinfall is the pin from amateur wrestling, whereby pinning an opponent to the mat will result in an automatic victory despite any points scored. However, while an amateur wrestling pin need be only one or two seconds, the count in professional wrestling is based on the referee's arm gestures, regardless of how much actual time elapses, and is to three slaps of the mat. Upset (sports)
An upset occurs in a competition, frequently in electoral politics or sports, when the party popularly expected to win (the "favorite") is defeated by (or, in the case of sports, ties with) an underdog whom the majority expects to lose, defying the conventional wisdom. It is often used in reference to beating the betting odds in sports, or beating the opinion polls in electoral politics.
